All the compactors I've seen (not that many) have the ability to spray water in front of the rollers.

My old 55 gal diesel drum is getting rusty and I scored a new 55 gal barrel that had engine oil in it. I've drained as much as I can from the barrel but there is still a little in it. Do I need to waste diesel to finish cleaning it out or will less than a quart of oil bother the next 50 gallons?

I'm going to go out on a limb BUT have you mic'd the old bearing housing? #1 in the drawing below looks more like the bearing I have on my Mott 72.

As you can see the bearing sticking out on the outboard side is half the problem. You might mic the thickness of the housing to see if that is the other half of the problem. The real issue is the sheave. If it sticks that far out it won't line up with the drive sheave. If this was my problem...
