Price per acre - bush hogging

Ok, now that 11 years has passed, is anyone doing any side business bush hogging to cover tractor payments, and if so what are the going rates?

As much as your area will bare.

There are far too many variables to put a flat per/acre price on it.

Mx5100 with 8' cutter....I target $75-$80 per hour, with a $175 minimum.

Old setup was a l3400 + 6' cutter. Target was $60/hr.

But I don't charge by the hour or by the acre. Just a price for given job. But my price is based on those targets. Customers tend to think $75 per hr is nuts. And would rather hire the guy with the 9n Ford for $35 per hour. Even though I am actually cheaper

Short and the long of it LD1, give them the price for the job, not the price per hour.

Yes.

My price per hr is just MY reference.

Once I gather all details about the job....I can pretty accurately guess how long it will take me, and how much time I spend traveling + load/unload.

Multiply that by $75 and I have my approximate job price. Then I give the customer a firm quote

That’s the same method I use. Most of the people I work for don’t make that much an hour as in probably half that or less. And they’re probably not going to agree to that. I don’t think I’ve ever got a job quoting by the hour. Quoting an even higher fixed rate to make up for any unforeseen delays with a total price and most people don’t have any objections.

Yep, that is the only way to quote a job.

Hard to estimate at first. Hourly is your best bet. People don't love it because it is open ended. If they ask for a ballpark cost, add 20% to what you think. Better to finish under rather than over. If it is horrible or dangerous, walk away. Mow the hard ones for regular price and you will loose. Things are going to happen,

Nothing wrong with caps. My boss wants every message on the computer in caps. It is easier to read. 40 years ago there were no lower case on computer keyboards or printers.

Easier in an unexpected sense.

They are easier for me because I never read them because I find it too difficult. :)

YMMV

I priced out brush clearing and small tree clearing and got $1500/day (8 hr day) from 3 different sources.
Given I got a skid steer with 2000 lb brush cutter stuck a few months ago the price without the headache sounds reasonable.

A couple of years ago a guy quoted me $1800 for an eighth hour day. Said he would mow up to 4" diameter trees!

The thing that sucks about caps....

Can't select all and change:mur:

Never understood that one. Can select all, and make bold, underlined, italics, change don't, color, highlight, etc. But can't freaking change upper/lowercase
