Re: Picked up a yerf-dog \'scout\' CUV yesterday

Nice looking unit been wanting one myself. But recently had a situation with Yerf Dog. My son has a yerf dog atv weve had it for about 5yrs now. The brakes finally wore out so I called the 1 800 number to order some parts. Guess what they told me they dont sell parts for their own units. I asked them why the lady said they have no parts for their units. She did give me a number for a place in Illinois that was long distance. I did find the brake pads but not from Yerf Dog. When I told her I would never purchase another Yerf dog product again because of the parts issue she just said OK good bye. Just surprised me about the lack of customer service. Good luck with your Yerf dog.

I dont understand how these companies can let their customer service be so bad. And still stay in business.

My opinion on this is most people don't look for customer service anymore, the just throw the product away and charge/buy a new one, whatever it may be.

The "disposable society" mentality...TV breaks-Buy a new one, Toaster breaks-get out the Visa(even though they are probably still paying for the last one they charged)

Me, on the other hand(an I'm sure most TBNers), will take "it" apart and try to fix it, and aggravate ourselves to no end calling the companies(actually, just importers) and try to get service. Sometimes it works, but most times it is futile at best /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sorry to ramble....But this is a sore spot with me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's never good to hear. I know it doesn't help your particular situation, but I know quite well that another "major" company has let their customer service drop to basically nothing. If you've read any of my recent posts, you'll know who I'm talking about. Anyway, maybe your company is taking a cue from one of the top companies that they can cut expense by cutting customer service. Afterall, it would be expensive to actually support a product. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yep.. I hear EXACTLY what you are saying.

I made the choice for yerf dog, because I had heard bad things about some other CUV companies.

I believe now that yerf is pretty much just an 'assembler' of products... that is.. they get the motor for 'x' , the keyy/locks from 'y'.. etc...

Re: Picked up a yerf-dog \'scout\' CUV yesterday

Fact is that some companies have a business model that is built around NO REPEAT business. They know most people will only buy their product ONE time, they design their company's support system around making ONE sale. Support centers don't exist, typcially distribution is haphazard. Profit structures are set up to buy/build/ship ONE time; usually these companies sell low end goods at lower end prices, customers usually "trade up" to a higher quality, larger, more expensive unit when they wear out the item. My guess is that Yerf-Dog might be that type of company. Sell it and forget it!?! Compare Yerf-Dog to Jinma.

Now that doesn't mean either is a bad product, but the description fits both companies. In the case of Jinma, the product is now sold by enough people under enough names that it is fairly easy to find parts support, especially if you buy from someone like Northern, but the reality is that Northern set up the parts support, etc, not Jinma. If Yerf-Dog sold enough units, and did it under several differnet brand names like Jinma, then it would be likely that an independant business (like Northern did with Jinma) would spring up for Yerf-Dog support. But that is a huge IF.

Re: Picked up a yerf-dog \'scout\' CUV yesterday

well, i paid $1500 for a yerf dog go-kart at sam's club in may. it's been broken a whole lot more than it's been ridden. matter of fact, in the barn now waiting on me to weld up and bend a front spindle. yerf dog no longer makes or will sell go-karts! **** of a note for $1500, huh! there is a large recall on them, and they're furnishing parts free, UNTIL THEY RUN OUT, from what customer service told me. then no more parts, period. some research and rumors on net and through some tsc people, say yerf dog is in big financial trouble and shutting down. i went to tsc today, and inquired about one of the utility vehicles. manager said thay have had nothing but problems and complaints. tsc will no longer be carrying them, not because of e-z go, but because yerf dog is so unstable and has no customer service. offered me a camo unit, $4900 retail for $3900,, but absolutely as-is he said when it leaves. needles to say,, i'm buying a bombardier sarasota tomorrow, new, 2 year warranty, for $3000
jd and kawasaki have been around a little longer than yerf dog, and with 2 year warranty, and for $3000, figure i cant go wrong

Re: Picked up a yerf-dog \'scout\' CUV yesterday

In case you are interested, I was looking through the Cabela's Fall 2005 catalog and they sell a power dump unit for the Yerf Dog. It is kind of pricey though, I believe it was $699. That is about twice what I paid for th one for my Gator.
