My mostly ignorant understanding is that it is used to form sheet metal into custom curves. Takes a lot of skill to use properly. I don't know where it got the name English Wheel but I kinda like the notion of someone using one of these to form some custom metal part on a Spitfire or Rolls Royce. :thumbsup:
That's the idea. I helped (read: watched) my dad use one to make some steel fenders for a reproduction Cord and for a 1931 Plymouth. So, yeah, I do know what they are for, I just have to admit that I can't make one do what I want it to do.
