Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

My mostly ignorant understanding is that it is used to form sheet metal into custom curves. Takes a lot of skill to use properly. I don't know where it got the name English Wheel but I kinda like the notion of someone using one of these to form some custom metal part on a Spitfire or Rolls Royce. :thumbsup:

That's the idea. I helped (read: watched) my dad use one to make some steel fenders for a reproduction Cord and for a 1931 Plymouth. So, yeah, I do know what they are for, I just have to admit that I can't make one do what I want it to do.

Yes I"m sure that wheel will bite but so will alot of other tools. 1st of all you have to be smarter than the tool. LOL I bought the 1/4" heavy duty rivet tool from the web site, because it wasn't available from a store, and it works great. It even comes with 10 rivets of 5 sizes, and for less than $20 plus s&h you can"t beat it. zman :thumbsup:

It's the heavy duty 1/4" gun by the way. Item # 66422. It also has the little plastic collection bottle that catches the main stems from the rivets. I have only used it for about 20 rivets but works fine so far. zman

All this feedback is relative to how each person uses his stuff. Something I am satisfied with maybe considered junk by another just because I use it lightly and every-so-often and someone else uses it hard and often.

You all probably new this but it just popped into my head as I read though this thread.

Satisfaction also has to do with what you are used to. For instance, I am used to my dad's screw guns and impact drivers for his carpentry work and consequently am disappointed with anything less.

For $30 what a beast! Better hang on good when the bit binds

I've been needing a powerful drill at my remote land and I keep forgetting to bring my 1/2" Milwaukee with me when I go, this one will reside there for ocassional use. I've been drilling 1" holes with an auger bit a foot or more deep in some stumps to speed their rotting with the stump rot type stuff poured into the holes. My Ryobi cordless drills are pretty good but just can't handle such a large bit that deep in hardwood.

Only one problem so far- the drill has so much torque it unscrewed the chuck when I got the bit stuck and tried to back it out. A dose of blue Loctite seems to have fixed that for now:thumbsup:

Patrick you should be doing tv commercials for HF!

Maybe not!! When I get a piece of junk from HF I don't mind telling anyone about that either. I'm getting pretty good at assessing the good, bad, and ugly but every once in a while I get fooled big time.
