I have never seen a more overbuilt engine in my life. Everything about it was designed to go 500k. The air filter was a cyclonic filter that could hold like 15 lbs of dirt. It was ridiculous how well that thing was made.

It was my first purchase in 2003 when I first started to make coin. It was used and had 100k miles, even with those miles everything was still in great shape. Even the seats were like new. It was triple locked and it could go anywhere, literally. It converted me for life.

It may just be the best vehicle ever made.

The 200 series is on par with the quality of the 80 series. The 5.7 motor is also bomb proof.

Sounds like you were “emotioned into it”.

Buddy of mine has the Lexus version. It’s really nice. Like you, he bought it used, but in fantastic condition. I’d put it on par with a Chevy Tahoe, but more solid feeling and a little less roomy

No emotion, I knew exactly what the best was, and then perused it. Would not settle for anything less than the best.

I did that with a woman too.

There are some nice-looking older Toyotas.

It is a shame they don’t make them any longer. They were not fast or powerful but simple and reliable.

My ‘76 Land Cruiser was old and slow, but you couldn’t kill it. I bought it in the mid 80’s when I was a kid. The motor had to be rebuilt. I bought it knowing it drank oil. The previous owner lied to me and told me it was valve guide seals, but it wasn’t.

Ended up buying one. We are really pleased with it. Took it on a trip last week and got 24mph so not too bad for a 5100lb vehicle that is shaped like a brick.

One of our trucks is a 2024 Tundra Limited, Its the daily in and out of the city work truck. We had a 23 that had a driveline vibration that no dealer could fix so i got rid of it with 6k miles on it for the 24. On its first visit to the dealer for an oil change at 3500 miles, it had an oil leak from the rear main seal. Spent 30 days at-the dealer getting fixed. The new Toyotas have had engine issues, which has prompted recalls for complete engine replacement on some vehicles. My suspicion is that my 23 had a cam vibration and it was just a matter of time before it grenaded. And I was not under the recall at that time. My 24 now has 7k miles on it.. I do really like the truck, but wont be keeping it past warranty.
