Anyone have a MechMaxx 3-pt stump grinder?

The website said it was in stock when I ordered mine. I'm thinking that it was actually on a boat somewhere, if not still in China when I ordered. They don't seem to actually have a presence in the USA. They are drop shipping from China to a freight forwarders warehouse here. I guess this is the trade off for paying $600 less than what woodland mills is charging.

Looks like the price has eased up to $1599. You guys with recent orders, how are your delivery dates coming along?

I'd be more than willing to bet that the price increases in pace with the tariff, especially if the grinder isn't warehoused stateside. No way will the China company take a hit on the cost.

I suspect your anticipated 600 buck savings is gonna go the other way as in 600 bucks more. Far as if you already paid for it, they can just withhold shipment and bill your CC for the difference and they don't care if your CC denies the charge either. They will either issue a refund or forget about you in as much as they are in China anyway.

I will take that bet. The price hasn't increased 245%. It's $1500 today. Still $300 less than it was before the sale started. It's already paid for. They can't charge more. They don't get to hold onto credit card info. They use shop.com for their point of sales system. Shop is much like PayPal. They hold money in escrow and can refund it if there is an issue. If they were in a bind, I suspect they would just keep delaying delivery until people cancel their orders and then cancel any orders that aren't voluntarily canceled. Shop would insure refunds to every order unfulfilled. They would still be forced to pay import tariffs on everything in transit. It's not like the boats are turning around. The alternative is to pay outrageous storage fees until they pay the tariffs. The products will still go to their freight forwarders warehouse where they will pay less outrageous storage fees until they are sold at whatever price they think the market will support. Seeing that the price went up and then back down again tells me that they have some kind of marketing strategy here. Perhaps the margin went down and they are now trying to move more products to make up for the tariff cost with sales volume.

You have no idea what you are talking about. These are just your guesses and they are wrong.

Well, if and when you finally get it, please tell everyone the final cost and if you do get it at all..

Maybe I don't know (which would be good for you) but maybe I do (I follow the news as it pertains to the tariff's on China so please let everyone know as we are all interested.

I do know that following the price increases on Amascon with Chinese produced goods, I'd say I'm right.

Really don't much care as I already have mine, bought it last year.

You can borrow it if you want to, for a fee of course.

Let me put it another way...

If your stump grinder isn't already at their freight forwarder on shore and is coming from China. it will fall under the now imposed 200% tariff imposed on ALL goods coming from China and the administration just imposed an additional tariff on all the Chinese unloading cranes used to unload the ships. Don't believe me, wander over to G Captain on the net and read it for yourself.

Me thinks you are screwed but on the slim chance you aren't please let everyone know as we are all curious.

I figure you will be fine.

The question I have is how are the tariffs figured - is it the retail you paid (I don’t think so) or the wholesale value, which is maybe around $500, a big difference in the overall cost.
