What are Messick's Smoking

As a former small business owner, Auto Service Shop, I believe Messicks is on the right track. They will offer to charge you a price that buying from them is only done when YOU are smoking Weed.
I think it's the 20/80 rule. 20% of your customers account for 80% of your revenue. The other 80% are tire kickers, one time purchasers, looking for a cheap low profit deal, and then go elsewhere for the other cheapest deal. No loyalty and no future sales.
Chasing those customers is a race to the bottom and you're business will suffer/fail.

Please don’t…. This isn’t about what’s in the pail or why you don’t think it’s worth it, this is about shipping, nothing more. No red herrings please, the thread will only turn into urinary Olympics (pissing match). Thank you.
Isn’t MO a lot closer to you than PA?
IMHO, that explains the disparity in shipping costs.

Are they the same shipping company? Same item different shippers different rates and as stated above 2 different distances. Your not comparing apples to apples. Get your products shipping quotes from 2 different dealers in the same state to start an argument.

We normally get things shipped to us by either the post office, UPS or Fed Ex. We live in a fairly rural area of Western Illinois. One thing we’ve noticed is stuff actually coming from an Amazon driver and an off brand shipping company that I don’t even remember their name. I assume all an effort to keep cost down.

I never heard of Coleman, so I just looked them up. Looks like they just sell Kubota stuff.

I've been buying New Holland and Landpride parts from Messicks for a very long time because they have been a lot cheaper then my New Holland dealer, and my Kubota dealer that sells Landpride.

Last year I needed a steering linkage for the New Holland. Messicks was over $400 for the part, and the same part number on Amazon, for a New Holland OEM part was under $200. Amazon also had free shipping, but it took about a week to get here.

I'll still look at Messicks first because they seem to have everything in stock all the time, but there is something wrong with their pricing when other places can sell for so much less.
Same thing, here. If Messicks were more competitive I would order there. They are the first place I always check then go over to Amazon or Ebay (my favorite) to look. Many times the price and shipping are much lower. Half the cost. Some items can be knockoffs or OEM you have to look. Some knockoffs can be as good as OEM.

Shipping is expensive. Out of control expensive. I had to ship 7 Amlodipine pills to my wife when she visited my niece in Oregon. She missed them when she packed. I think 90 days of the meds cost 10 bucks or something. It cost me 60 bucks to ship them next day.

Also depends on if Messick's is shipping 1-2 day vs Coleman shipping Standard Ground. Don't know if that's the case.

Parts aren’t shipped rush next day.

Parts are shipped any way you have them shipped. You can have them strapped to the back of a pack mule and get them in a month I suppose. Regardless it is still outrageous to have something shipped was my point. Here's what I know. The company I work for ships lots of things via FedEx. Apparently more than I even realize. We get a 75% discount on shipping. I can ship 3 large Pelican cases full of test equipment next day for $150. If I shipped those same cases myself it would be just south of $1K. I would be very surprised if Messicks is paying that much to ship supplies. I'm sure they are getting deep discounts and not passing the savings on to their customers. Shipping from Pa. vs Mo. is just not that much difference.

Hmmm I don’t know about that.
1,000 miles is a lot further to ship.

I just keep circling back to why anyone would buy 5 gallon pails of oil from 2,000 miles away, when they could buy them from 2 hours away.

Common sense tells me it’s cheaper to ship it 2 hours than 2,000 miles. Much cheaper.
