Took my Branson 4215CH to the local dealer for a 50 hour service. There was a full page of itemized work performed. The major item of note is the throttle. This tractor had a normal hand throttle to adjust the engine rpms as needed. Now after the service, the engine rpms increase when the forward or reverse foot pedals are depressed - just like a car. The engine purrs and fun to listen to. The more you depress the pedal, the higher the rpm's. Is this normal? Is this difficult to revert back to the hand throttle control? Left a text message with the dealer and waiting to hear back from him. Any input is appreciated. TIA Yooper Dave

Mine has always had hand and foot auto throttle. It’s a mechanical linkage. The hand and foot throttle should BOTH work. If one isn’t, that is actually an issue.

The hand and foot throttle both move the same mechanical linkage.

Yes, that's normal. It's called "linked throttle". Essentially, there is a second throttle cable connected to the HST pedals linkage. As you press the pedals, it will increase the RPM.

What happens more often than not, is that brush and sticks will pull the cable out of it's position and the linked throttle stops working.

Often there will be a control to place it in or out of linked pedal.
Under hard load when you are wanting full throttle and reduced speed that would interfere.
Also any PTO work would be strange with the linked pedal.

Note that you can increase the throttle with the hand lever above what the foot pedal-linked change does.

I usually have my throttle set pretty low when just derping around the land, but if I go up my hill (moderately steep) in medium range (range 2 out of 3), I'll increase the hand throttle and not use much pedal pressure, because the linked throttle is insufficient for the load at that point (assuming not much extra weight on the tractor - when I have a lot of weight, I have to go low range).

Similarly if I want to cruise around like I'm riding a bucking bronco in high range, I use extra throttle because the linked throttle seems set up well for middle range; the linked increase isn't sufficient for high range.\

Basically, the hand throttle sets the minimum RPM for the engine, and the pedal-linked throttle change may increase it above that amount if you press hard enough, but the RPM shouldn't drop below it.

The handthrottle can be used as usual, until you press the pedal beyond what hand throttle is set at then it will increase rpms further. It's a mechanical wire, so not hight tech. It can be unhooked again if desired not to use it?
