The spark and the binding of two people is doing things together.
I used to think the same. But my brother has proved me wrong. Don't remember now when he got married, how long its been. First marriage for him, the second for her. Had two kids together that are now almost 50 years old, and several grandkids. My brother and his wife are close - but they have completely different interests and spend a lot of time apart. Both retired now of course. She spends her time going on cruises, visiting museums in Europe, things like that, with her girlfriends. He spends his time on his Honda Goldwing touring all over the country...when he's not making really beautiful furniture in his woodworking shop.
So they have a home - a beautiful home - together. I visit with them every year and there seems to be no discord. They do agree with each other politically and philosophically and yes, when they are home they share the same bedroom. But they don't do much together.
