My wife had a cardiac ablation several months ago. It’s a procedure to prevent atrial fibrillation.

The Medicare statement just came. Total amount billed was over $200,000! Medicare paid $27,000 and Tricare picked up the 20%, so no cost to us.

What does some average person do if they don’t have insurance? It’s bankruptcy and ongoing future problems. One of the main affects is blood clots and likelihood of a stroke.

Dammed if you do, dammed of you don’t.

Probably die or suffer, not many options unfortunately.
Our medical care in Canada is free....only problem is waiting years to get anything done regardless of the ailment, and by free I mean taxed to no end to pay for it. There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems.....I think.

People wonder why insurance is so costly...it's because the procedures are so costly.

Obamacare addressed access to healthcare, without addressing the cost of healthcare. Costs have gone parabolic since 2010.

And then try getting blood from a turnip.
I have great insurance but thinking about my retirement in 4 years. Can you just carry Medicare Part A which is free and let the hospital eat the rest?

Is the cost of medical due to actual medical costs or the insane premiums for malpractice insurance.

A family member years ago said her malpractice insurance paid by employer was more than her yearly salary. She was a physical therapist so not even in surgery risk category.

Used to be in some states or towns they only had to treat you if unconscious without insurance. Not sure if those rules still apply today or not.

Maybe stop giving free medical to prisoners and provide it to people that have earned it working for living.

They will not eat it...they will come for the balance after the Medicare reimbursement.

I just had a heated debate on another site about this. Obamacare didn't fix anything. Instead it provides a distraction which prevented us from working out a viable solution to health care costs.

I had an incident in the front yard last August. Paramedic decided that I needed to be flown to Chattanooga. 35 miles. Med Trans helicopter billed $66824, ins paid $6156, I owe $1539.

Also, I'm on a cancer treatment every 3 months. Last one was billed at $23367. ins paid $493. I paid $110.

Can't complain about my insurance.
