My shepherds twin Brother is very protective. There's only one person who knows the dogs well enough to come through the gate and the dogs still put up a fuss. Fortunately most people would probably OK but they don't know that.... I can't really say what happens if that person or anyone else came here when we weren't home.
If I go to the gate and let someone in and make introductions it's a different deal, mostly. Seriously these dogs and German sheps I've have always before Catahoulas were good judges of people. If the dogs won't settle down I don't want the visit.
There were only 3 people that could enter my daughters home when they weren't there.
Their old roomate, my wife, and I.
When I walked into the house, he would run around screaming like a little girl, then demand belly rubs.

If a stranger walked into the house, he would bite them.
