Is anyone near Western NC (Cashiers) who owns Power Trac equipment that would allow me to take a look at it? I'm looking at buying a PT 1845 or 1850 and have never seen any PT equipment. Any model I could look at would help get a better understanding of qualiity and operations without having to drive to VA.

Welcome! There's a PT owner's list, but it's not complete;

You can add your location to your profile; it helps folks give you more specific advice.

How are you looking to use your 1845/1850?

All the best, Peter

Saw this post and though you might find it interesting.

When I got my PT1460, I went to the factory (about 5 hours drive also). They let me drive several machines and use them on their rock pile to get a feel for them.
Decision was clear after testing the different machines which one was right for my use case-land developing and building my home.
My machine has been very strong.
Good Luck!

Thank you for the owners list tip. I'll be using it for farm work. Mowing, stump grinding, clearing and some grading and planting.

Thanks, sounds like it is worth the drive. Have you had any service issues that were hard to resolve without a 5 hr drive?

All issues diagnosed/resolved over phone with Terry at PT factory and parts sent directly to me. Very reasonable costs for the parts.
Sent a cylinder to them to rebuild and they had it rebuilt and back to me ASAP. Have to say they are good people and my machine has done alot of work for me. Paid for itself with my general land clearing and new garage excavation project that I am currently doing. Was getting quotes of 25 grand to clear, excavate, spread stone, grade and make a driveway. Did it myself with my PT machine 1-2 hours at a time for fun. Highly recommend a brush grapple if you have clearing to do.
I did get the machine wanting to learn more about hydraulics, diesel engines and tractors in general, so I was aware I would prolly be involved in the diagnostic/repair process. I also knew that (worst case scenario) I could find a way to get the machine back to PT factory if necessary.
