My main saw is a 372xp. Its a '98 model on its first rebuild. My standby saw is an even older 288xp, I owned them both since new, both with 28 inch bars. I could not begin to count the cords of wood they have cut or the thousands of board feet fell and bucked with the two saws back when I was logging full time.

This year I will be using husqvarna xp+ mix oil. I used power punch 2 cycle mix oil for a LONG time but was not available locally so I went with husqvarna xp+ mix oil this go around. The dealer was having a sale on bar oil also, so some of husky all season bar oil came home with me also. Don't remember the last time I was all husky saw stuff, including the bar oil!!

Mostly cut firewood with the 372. Its lighter, and cuts faster with its tuning with this rebuild.

What you fellas running this firewood season??

I had a 044 stihl back in 95'-96'.It was given to me and been ran hard. I ran it before it lost enough compression getting it started was an issue. It did not like to run in the winter. Aluminum carburetor throat or something would ice up and it would quit running. Run like a banshee in warmer weather.

I usually keep a 3-saw line-up, with the smallest being a top handle:

1. Husq T435 top handle, 35cc, 12" bar
2. Stihl 036 Pro, 63cc, 20" bar
3. Stihl 064 AV, 85cc, 28" bar

I run RS-33 full chisel yellow chain on the two Stihl's, and whatever small gauge (PICO) chain the local shop has for the top handle.

I've owned other saws at 40, 50, and 135 cc's, but found them either useless or superfluous to the 3-saw lineup above.

Splitter is a 22-ton mod'd to hit 6 second full-stroke times at 24" each way. Log lift is my front-end loader. :ROFLMAO:

4570man, that's a pile of wood!! I was surprised with just an extra hand from the son in law how much we got split, but your pile is awesome...

I run 3/8 skip tooth or skip comp usually oregon or husqvarna chain. Husky chain use to be made by oregon but I'm not sure about that now.

My splitter for years was a simple ludell mall, then updated to a 22 to brave splitter, Still the most favorite update for firewood production. Other than a 4 way splitting wedge, Mine is not modified yet. The second something gives up the ghost, improvement mods are the plan.

I snuggle the splitter close up to the flat bed trailer. Then as I split the rounds of wood, I toss or push the split pieces right onto the trailer. The tail gate of my '84 gmc pick-up will go low enough when the stop straps are disconnected to do the same also.

Husky 592XP, 7.6hp. I don’t touch any of my other saws now that I have this. Stihl yellow chain, 28” bar. Cuts like a laser, amazingly fast.

Sorry for digression. How do you mod a spiltter for a faster stroke? Bigger hyd. pump I imagine?

I have 3 saws:
Husky 345 - found in a dumpster
Husky 359
older Stihl 056
Use the 359 mostly for firewood.

I have an Echo 620p and 490(slightly modified), and an M18 pole saw.
25 ton v/h splitter and a Fiskars X27 and an 8 lb maul for taking into the woods.

Lots of big Ash takedowns, the 620p with 24" bar for the 16-32" stuff , the 490 20" bar for the little stuff and the pole saw for branch removal.
