What did you buy this week?

This week I bought a set of Vevor clamp-on pallet forks through Amazon. The FEL on my "new to me" 15-year old tractor does not have a SSQA adapter, and although ATI makes one that will fit, the cost of the adapter plate, and of converting my bucket, and then having to buy the pallet fork set-up, it just seemed to make more monetary sense to go with the clamp-on forks for now -- especially given they were on sale. Beside, my FEL has a max-height lift rating of only 1.1K lbs at the pins. Now the forks I got are overkill, rated at 4K pounds, but they have double clamp screw arrangement that I like, and give a full 43" working length, which seemed like it could be a lot more useful (e.g., picking up brush) than just a 30" working length.

I also got a new seat cover (the tractor's existing seat has a tear on one side exposing the inner foam) and a steering wheel spinner...

A cellphone selfie stick with a Bluetooth remote clicker. To use to take photos in hard to reach places. Getting too old to crawl into tight spaces. Amazing gadget for $10 on Amazon.View attachment 4006698

I like that and it hurts me to crawl in any spaces.

...my FEL has a max-height lift rating of only 1.1K lbs at the pins.

And that is the problem. You put the COG at 20" to the center of the forks, which are 40" from the pins, and you only have a few hundred pounds capacity.

I got clamp-on forks with my tractor, but they were so capacity limited. I did get an adapter for my pin-on load system, SSQA adapter for my bucket and then SSQA forks. Much, MUCH better. I only realized today that I probably could have bought the SSQA loader plate from Kubota to convert that loader, and then just the adapter for the bucket. It's because the two adapters not only add weight (lowering capacity), but also put the weight further out front, also reducing capacity.

Whatever, great improvement.

So, almost at a "reasonable" price, then...

Pretty surprising they put the 12" screen in a Tradesman, I would have that it would not be a selectable option.
FYI, while I currently have a '24 F250, I had a '15 and then '20 RAM 1500 (GREAT trucks. In fact my son is still driving the '15). I wanted a Ram 2500 to pull my new travel trailer, but Ford just won me over.

Yes, I agree with your physics analysis. Either way, the clamp-on forks (extra distance from the pins) or the SSQA adapter (extra weight), there is a penalty to pay in terms of capacity reductions.

If only I could find a "pin-on" pallet fork set-up to fit my ML106 loader... (not that I relish swapping buck for forks by banging out pivot pins).

Vapor canister filter for my Brat. Best $2.50 spent at Advance Auto Parts. Hopefully the fuel odors after shut-off and hard starting will go away.

The ATS for the new to me Generac Generator I am installing - it has 180 hours so just broken in. Got the gas line done and conduit all in ready for electrician now once we have the ATS delivered.

Bought 34 of these 4' x 2' x 2' concrete retaining wall blocks for $50 each delivered.

That's just over $3 / cu ft! I couldn't mix the concrete myself for that price, even if I had the form.
A local concrete supplier makes them up from left overs in their delivery trucks.

Around here they are running $150 plus delivery for the 2x2x6 which weigh about 3600 pounds each.
