Ya gotta be careful

I learned to drive a semi truck when paper logs were how you managed your driving hours. I don't want to suggest that any truck driver would falsify a paper logbook, but I am sure pages were lost and had to be replaced.
When I hitched from Vermont to California (with 2 friends) and back in '73 we got to Ohio and were picked up by a semi with a cab who was going to San Diego. That's when I learned drivers NEVER FALSIFY A PAPER NOTEBOOK. And NEVER LOSE PAGES. Out of either logbook :)

We all need to recognize and be careful for ourselves and others because none of the 3 excuses I had was worth hurting someone or myself.
Yes, we have to be careful. Which basically means full of care. Care for others as well as ourselves. I am so lucky that I didn't hurt anybody. Nevermind me, other folks are way more important.

Been there, years ago, at about 3:00 am. As all rural folk know, falling asleep is always reported as “I was dodging a deer” or “dodging a dog,” or other animal as appropriate.🙄 BTW those rumble strips on the pavement are a great idea.

No, I'm sure I will get the OK from the doc. We already discussed this and she said I was safe to drive. But then I got a letter from the state because the state wants to be sure. Of course. I was truly just really sleep deprived and the medication can have a soporific effect.

Glad you are OK and... I learned a new word today. Soporific. (y)

I'm on several meds that can cause drowsiness. Gotta be careful and aware that it can come on at any time.

I bet they have saved thousands of lives since they started putting them on the side of highways.
About 15 years ago #1 Son needed me to help with some weekend work about 2-1/2 hours away. Did a number of weekend trips there. Late one afternoon Wifey and I were heading back East on US322 and I drifted onto one of those "dummy strips". Wifey asked loudly "WHATAREYOUDOING?". I responded calmly "falling asleep". Then in a more normal tone she said "Oh, OK. I thought you were trying to irritate me".

She made it sound like running off the road was fine with her, so long as it was unintentional:)

I'm happy you learned a new word. I love words and there are a lot I don''t use on this site because I know most folks won't know them and the meaning of what I am writing would be lost. This doesn't mean I talk down to folks, just that I write what most folks understand. I love learning new words and really appreciate it when someone posts a word I don't know.

Eric trust you are healing and feeling better - just curious if you are truck shopping yet, and what are you considering? I'm not crazy about the next gen tundra tho they ride better, and get better mileage.

My neighbors have Ram 1500 I have driven them and they are smooth nice driving trucks, but I like the Tundra reliability.

My former brother in-law would yell "HELICOPTER RIDE!!!" and veer onto the rumble strips. His kids loved it.
