I find the speed of execution for a given task is slower now...

But I gain more personal satisfaction from doing it now than when younger, and I'm more focused on the task than before.

Example is cutting firewood. I'm slower doing it now, but enjoying the task way more than in the past, when it was just a job to get done as fast as I could.

I can get-her-done in 2 hours, but it is work.
I can do it in 4 hours and have a relaxing good time with a few pit stops. I might even stretch it out into two days.

My wife commented to me recently after I had done a stint of partially mowing the lawn.
"The neighbor" mows with a small riding mower at "break neck speed" , buzzing around their yard. But I like the way you mow at a comfortable walking pace with so little comotion".

It struck home, I do 90% of the mowing at the lowest speed of the four speed box on the 48 inch cut walk behind. Suits me fine.

Had a pulley issue on the mower, and my wife and I couldn't get the mower on the trailer. Brain over brawn (if anyone else has a better idea with a mower that won't move, let me know), but my shoulder was still feeling pretty bad that night trying to muscle it on originally.

Did you release the HST? My Zturns have a release on each pump to allow it to free wheel not lock the drive wheels down.
I guess pick it up with the tractor is not an option

The only thing I might have done differently would be to jacknife the tow vehicle so that you were pulling straight on. But it's on the trailer, and I've never seen fit to argue with success.

Or run a line or cable thru a block centered on the front of the trailer. But like you said… hard to argue with success.

One screw in each wheel motor releases the wheels, and is necessary to prevent damage when towing more than a few feet. I think it’s just 1/4 turn on each, but it’s been a few years since I’ve had to use them.

So let's chase the rabbit. Got my ZT high centered, sideways in a ditch and lost traction. Had to pull it out with the tractor.

Released the parking brakes and pulled it out maybe 5 feet...without thinking about opening the relief fittings on each drive.

Is that high risk for screwing up the hydraulics on the ZT? (And I'll carry a wrench in the future to undo the relief fittings first).
