My Beaver is a S373-D, 3-cyl, 4-wheel drive selectable version from late 70's.
Had some wiring smoke and burns this winter and finally got parts to fix it.
Color and age on a few wires not readable since it has been painted over.
Many connectors were broken and a few wires burned and insulation cracked off.
I have the manual and have traced many of the wires.
It will crank and run but I want some advice about the wiring before I head off into the woods.
Got a new regulator for it and not sure if I have the wires hooked up correctly and need some help to verify.
The wire colors are as follows.
Alternator--------------------Regulator
wire color--------------------wire color
Blk/Y---------goes to--------Yellow wire
White--------goes to--------Blk wire
White/Red---goes to--------White wire
White/Blk----goes to--------Blk/W
Yellow Fuse line wire goes to Green wire and also has continuity to white/red wire at regulator
With switch on wire goes to Green wire and also has continuity to white/red wire at regulator
I have been through the manual several times.
Seems like a typo in at least one location in the repair manual.
It calls point 3 or L as being a Yellow/white lead when mine is a Yellow/green.
It also shows a 35 amp alternator when mine is 15 amp.
Who has more experience with wiring and can help me figure out if I have a couple of wires crossed.
The regulator does get warm when the tractor runs.
The battery voltage goes from about 12.5 to 14 when tractor runs.
Here are a few pictures of the manual and my notes.
Thanks for any advice and discussion.
It is normal for the new regulator to get warm?
I turned it off and disconnected battery till I get a good solid answer.
Don't want to guess and kill the old blue girl, she has been so good that past 40+ years.
Yes, I have replaced the fuse holder with a modern one, new lights and light switch.
