There isn't much to do nowadays with the virus closing everything up. One of my few enjoyments is reading TBN and hearing comments and advice from all my friends here. Unfortunately, everyone isn't interested in obeying the rules of the forum and is more intent on trying to prove how their beliefs are better than others beliefs and getting our favorite forums shut down.

I really enjoyed "You know you are getting old when" and the first 500 posts or so everybody was getting along and it was very interesting to read and comment. I have never said a bad word about anyone here on TBN and can't understand why others want to antagonize some of the posters and make rude comments. There are many different forums on the internet where such behavior is allowed and even encouraged.

Yes, I am old, and tired, and wanting to just enjoy my last few years, not listen to others bitc**in and griping about others. Most of the time it is just one loud-mouth who starts things and others are unable to hold their tongue when they hear such ridiculous nonsense and everything goes downhill from there.

I know that 99% of us are not the urban dwellers who are trying to tear down society and can not understand why we can not get along better. There are some of us who are millionaires and some who are living from day to day but we are equal on this forum and usually have great respect for others who do not have everything that we have and are pleased to be able to help them out with our ideas and past experiences. I know that if we were all in the same room together, having discussions, we would be much more polite than when we have the advantage of speaking to others we do not know from a safe distance.

Come on, we are all members of the TBN club, let's practice being a little more brotherly.

The simple solution is to ignore the posts/threads that you do not like, and just move on!

As TallyHo said it is members posting insults and trying to start arguments,
Many of use do ignore many posts and posters on threads that we enjoy sometimes it is very difficult to do so.
Others don't ignore some and then we get off to the races and headed for a thread closing.

Well, my little thread didn't quite make it to a quarter million views but it did have over 6000 posts. I was sorry to see it go, but I suspected in the last couple of days that it might go down the tubes and it did. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did. Didn't make 1 year either. Oh well.

I wonder if we could start a "You know you are getting old when #2" thread or it would get shut down as fast as the "Corona Virus #1" threads?

It's a problem with over zealous moderators trying to make a statement rather than trying to make a change...closing/locking a thread (with a decent history) just because some posts cross a line is a condescending knee jerk reaction... IMO...closing a thread with a relatively good and popular record without any attempt to bring it back to topical comments is nothing more than an act of both arrogance and ignorance on the part of whomever closed it...

I know it's against the rules to bash the mods etc...but sometimes they get so full of themselves...they need to hear it...!

Internet forums would be nothing without the content that the users provide...it's the only content they (the owners etc.) have...! (hint: advertisements and shills are not content)...!

Oh I do ignore the posts even though I am tempted to give my opinion, but my complaint is that they wind up getting good threads closed. This thread will also be closed soon because others can't wait to start posting comments about others. I will never name names but anyone can just read the posts and see which poster is continually breaking the rules resulting in the threads getting shut down. Why can't people just reply to threads without demeaning others and calling them names?

Please start another one. It was quite enjoyable for most.

These are difficult times. To pretend that nothing is happening and everything is just peachy and normal isn't right. Can't people voice their opinions or observations without offending others or without speaking in terms of my tribe or yours, mentality? It's a tractor forum, but boy it encompasses much, but what, nothing that REALLY matters?

To me, nothing is more offensive than people being oblivious and having their heads in the sand. The stakes are really too high. What can be more important to us old farts than what is becoming of "OUR" society?

In a sense that 60s song with the lyrics, "nobodies right if everybodies wrong" is spot on.

As far as James thread. I was last on there, but noticed it closed within seconds of me posting and had to wonder if my post had even been read by the moderator that closed the thread.

I inadvertantly got a very good thread about retirement investing shut down simply by mentioning that current events caused me to increase my 401K contributions. There was nothing political about my comment yet in hindsight I can see that it would have been a jumping board for the usual suspects to start the same old stale name calling and arguments. When there is a good discussion going on, those same few people start going at it. When they are asked to stop that poster is accused of "being the forum police" or some other derogatory comment.

The fact that some people don't feel the rules of society are what is causing the problems in the world today... in this case, those rules established on a privately owned site by an owner who works very hard to create a quality site.
