DIY Stump Grinder - Possibly Using an Old Flywheel!?!

I hear you. I was a C-130 crew chief for 7 years, so I get where you’re coming from. Yes the whole stump grinder could be sacrificial as far as I’m concerned. I figured a good PTO shaft slip clutch would help absorb any significant shock. I’m pretty new to the tractor world. I just can’t believe...

DIY Stump Grinder - Possibly Using an Old Flywheel!?!

So I’m thinking about building myself a swing type stump grinder. Here’s my thoughts and I’m open to ideas or suggestions. Main Frame from an old carry all with an arm hinged to it to mount the gearbox/wheel Tie rod cylinder from TSC for the swing function. 3point lift used for up/down...

Ford 1715 4WD Drop Box Oil Capacity!?

Thanks Robin. The hubs are separate from the front axle so it doesn’t really specify how much to put where. I just filled the hubs up to the top plugs and the axle up to the dipstick. Seems to be alright

Ford 1715 4WD Drop Box Oil Capacity!?

I am looking to replace the oil in my 4WD gearboxes, but the manual doesn’t list an oil type or capacity. The drain plug is at the bottom of course but the fill hole is clear in top of the case and I know it doesn’t take that much. For fluid I just plan on using regular old gear oil, although...

    Ford 1715 FRUSTRATING Cavitation Problem

Ok problem solved. After some more trial and error I found the solution and it’s really quite embarrassing. I rebuilt the loader control valve as that was the last part of the hyd piping and valving that was untouched. But the problem persisted. I checked the fluid level again and it was at the...

    Ford 1715 Sticks in Gear

So after replacing the shift lever the problem seems to have resolved itself. I took the lid off and ran through the gears with the old shifter that had a pretty worn ball. 1st and 3rd is engaged with the top shift lever and 2nd and R is engaged by the bottom. With the ball being worn, when I...

Front Bumpers/Grill Guards- Lets See Em

I have a Ford 1715. I don’t really need weights upfront because I usually have the loader attached. Anyway I’m looking at buying or fabbing my own front grill guard. So I’m looking for some ideas, post what you bought, found, made, or modified for a front grill guard!

    Ford 1715 Stuck in gear

I’m hoping that’s not the problem with mine but have a feeling it may be. That bell housing holds a lot of moisture and creates rust like none other! Thanks for the info!

    Ford 1715 Stuck in gear

Thanks for the input guys. I feel the problem is definitely somewhere between the shifter lever and the rods. The lever itself has a pretty worn ball, and I ordered a new one which came in today. The shift boxes in the bell housing seem to be in good condition. Many people mention the problem...

    Ford 1715 Sticks in Gear

I have a 94 Ford 1715 4wd that has been getting stuck in gear. It started grinding more than usual when shifting into second and reverse, then one day while pushing a brush pile it got jammed in gear and wouldn’t come out. When I removed the top trans cover it came right out. Its done it a few...
