Asking for advice on machine to landscape my yard

Skid steers are great for some jobs. But perhaps not so much for homeowner chores where downsides are tearing up the grass, no 3pt hitch, and being more difficult to get on and off. It always amazes me how much getting on and off the tractor is involved in any project You could rent one of...

    Pressure washer pump rebuildable?

Might be easier to just buy the pump complete. The 2.8 gpm pump on my honda-powered pressure washer froze and broke the housing. Amazon sells pressure washer pumps in the $50 range to fit most pressure washers. On mine it took less than 15 minutes to swap the new one for the old. That was 5...

What are your guys thoughts on a small TLB?

Also look at the Kubota B26. The next size up from the BX and the smallest of the compact frame TLBs. It's been in production continuously since 2007; that's impressive.... A 4000 lb basic 3 speed TLB for mid-35K $$ & without fancy electonics or emissions. Nice.

What are your guys thoughts on a small TLB?

Well, you said you wanted something that would be useful the rest of your life. The cost is the major downside to a small TLB. But good ones do keep their value well enough to be worth a trial. As several have pointed out, a used full size TLB is far less expensive than a smaller one. Not...

We have a Kubota M59 TLB. Bought in 2008. I think it is important on a TLB that the backhoe have a thumb. What about "Fix a Flat" for a very slow leak?

Good point. Although I am not so sure that it is true that most tractor owners have fluid filled tires. Well, so far I haven't done anything to fix the slow leak, but am determined to try something. 3 Point Hitch slow and unintended dropping

The OP has already done that test and it doesn't drop. It could be the 3pt valve, but having an implement drop that much seems rare. He says it started dropping when he added the F&R extra hydraulic systems. My bet is that the leakage is internal leakage in one of the accessory hydraulic...

    3 point lift issues

Yes, I didn't mean to get into a debate and was surprised to see any different opinion. A horizontal boom pole is just simple leverage. 3 point lift issues

It will work, but weighting the front in order to lift more at the back sure can put a lot of bending stress on all the connecting castings of the tractor - the bellhousing and transmission cases especially. If you are going to do that, it makes sense to check that it has a good full length...

Since the OP is looking at used (2015) that sounds like he expects to do his own maintenance and repair. We cut 40 some full size ponderosa pine in the last couple of years. For those, cured logs weight 2/3 of what fresh green logs weigh. Fully dried wood in rounds or splits is about half of green weight. Harder woods are heavier, but less of their weight is water.

Whose idea to put the brakes on top of the 'Go' pedal??

This mostly applies to older tractors before power steering became popular. On those, it was common to work the left and right steering brakes to help it steer but we didn't use the clutch at the same time. Yes, stopping was still a problem. But I agree about the problem of having the brakes...

  33. rScotty

    3 point lift issues

Well, one thing that will help is to have the boom pole as vertical as possible. That shortens the horizontal distance to the load, and allows the boom to lift more weight. The specs say that with the load attached to the end of an 8 foot boom sticking out nearly horizontal to the load, then...

    3 point lift issues

Your tractor is fine. Lift is not really measured in pounds; it is measured as a constant torque or lift ability around the rear pivot of the lift arms. MX6000 - FEL and 3PH Stopped Working

I just realized where that metal could come from, how to fix it, and even why it didn’t affect anyone’s HST. ….and i had all the info since about 2014 but just now put it together. When I changed my hydraulic filter back then, the pipe nipple that the main hydraulic filter mounts onto fell out...

    MX6000 - FEL and 3PH Stopped Working

Either that or the associated relief valve. Agree that the first sentence and the five minutes hold the key. Reminds me of the BH swing problem on the Kuboa M59s. If it is similar, forcing the grapple to move while rapidly working the solenoid might get it working again. Read some of the...

CK2610 looses power at half tank fuel

Should be fine. Diesels are tough that way since they naturally operate on the lean side of the fuel/air curve. But that is so simple of a system we should be able to fix it easily. It wasn’t made to work that way. Either the pump is weak or one of the standpipes has a problem. It is not a...

BH casting broke? Any dealers here?

That’s your best solution. Good on Kubota. I’d still double check by measuring the new clearance. rScotty

    Rotary Phase Converters - revisited

Sounds to me like someone made an error generating the phase of the 3rd leg. rScotty

    PTO speed

It doesn’t have a dedicated PTO tach because the rpm proportion is constant for geared pto’s - and near enough to a constant for hydraulic ones. If we half the engine RPM, that cuts the PTO rpm in half as well. No PTO tach needed. rScotty

What class of tractor for maintaining two miles of road at higher elevation?

200 acres in the mountains? No problem. For snow up to 18” we have an old high hour Deere 310. It has 90 hp, 4wd, weighs a bunch, heated cab, & they are commonly for sale within your price range….. everywhere in the USA. To clear a couple of feet of snow for a mile of dirt road, just put that...

Exhaust popping, losing power when hot

Those symptoms - failing spark as it heats up - would normally lead to a bad condensor and/or coil - but you said you changed those. So I am out of ideas.

Which tractor for small operator? 5'1" petite farm owner

Sounds like a nice upgrade. Nice that they have the telescoping lower arms....That makes me wonder what else is optional for a reasonable price? You might ask the dealer if you can look at his "Whole Goods Catalog" for that model. Whole Goods is what dealers use for commercial customers or...

Which tractor for small operator? 5'1" petite farm owner

Lou, I haven't looked at the CK2620. The Yanmar 359C is 59 hp, power shuttle shift 8F/8R, and weighs 4000 lbs bare. That is, without loader, weights or implements. That size and power seems to be in the range of her old Case tractor, and even in a similar color... I admit to having a bias...

    B26 power steering

That is where the B26 has it all over the M59. The M59 3pt kit is category 2, and the components are too massive & heavy for me to handle anymore. I wish it the M59 had a lighter weight 3pt. As it is, I just leave the backhoe attached.

    B26 power steering

The power steering is not electrical. If we can round up a hydraulic system schematic for the B26 we can get you started on some diagnostics. Are you going to do the work or take it to a dealer? Either way, the first thing I would do is change all the hydraulic filters. You can do that...

Which tractor for small operator? 5'1" petite farm owner

I agree. Time to pass the Case to someone with more time to deal with it. Just about the best thing on our current tractor is nothing I would have known before using it for a day....but it is how easy it is to get on/off!! It has a four post insulated canopy top - that gives a perfect...

Which tractor for small operator? 5'1" petite farm owner

Tractors have changed a little bit since 2016 - that's when everything over 25 hp began to have the new emissions controls. Much of the tractor world from 25 to 90 hp went to a type of emissions control called Diesel Particle Filters or DPF. Mostly they work OK - you'll notice a few changes...
