    My portable has a kind of a muffler. More like a sound baffle. I know it hooks onto a pipe with a clamp. Not sure of the duromax. It does muffle the sould compared to if it wasnt there, but ill bet its more of a flame arrester by design.

    On some older generators ive had in the past i was able to remove the large “muffler” they provide and simply install a flex pipe on the remaining stub and ran it thru a car muffler to deaden the noise. I did this for 15 years until i installed the whole house generator.

    I honestly think your hooking up wires wrong. A basic light either has 1 wire and uses the mounting device for the ground, or has 2 wires, one being a ground and one being the hot. This fixture is just wired weird. A green wire with yellow stripe is universally considered a ground wire.

    I loop the tails into the gutter and run a piece in the gutter and down the downspout. Ill take a picture and post later. I almost always use 240v tape myself, as its only about $1 a foot more than the 120, and im not screwed up using more length than i thought i would need.

    Sealed batteries can still gas off some liquids. They still have vent holes. Also, if you accidentally tip over a sealed lead acid battery, it can lose fluid that cant be replaced. Glass mat (agm) batteries arnt as bad at losing any fluids if tipped over, but also have vent holes.
