Kohler/Rehlko, Kawasaki, Tecumseh, Honda, SBD(legacy MTD) all instruct to check the oil without screwing in the dipstick. Briggs is the only exception. Push in dipsticks are always fully inserted to check oil level. Kawasaki engines have the instructions molded into the dipstick itself.

Actually that opposed twin Kohler would be either a KT series or a Magnum not the Command which is V-twin OHV. But you are right, nothing will replace the K series.

If you put 12 volts to the ignition system I am surprized that you didn't let out the factory smoke, and kill the ignition permanently. You should be able to touch the green ground wire to any metal and kill the engine.

References I have seen in the past talked about 100*F plus air temperature. So on a 90*F day oil could reach 190*F. I have measured the hydraulic oil temp on my Kioti at 146*F on a normal summer day while using the tractor.

Those are fun to drive and can get kind of crazy if trying to mower too fast. The fun ends the first time you decide to straddle that hole in the yard the dog dug and then you realize too late what is coming when the single rear wheel that you are basically sitting on drops into that hole.

Some setups you can't bypass the seat switch. The wiring has a bypass shorting clip built into it that if unplugged will short the two prongs making it think that nobody is in the seat. And to the OP I would suspect you have a bad seat switch or something related to the seat switch

The grease zerk is a marketing ploy to appease the customers into thinking they are getting something extra when they have grease zerks. Grease them or not it doesn't make any difference.

From your second picture it is installed backwards. The clutch should be sitting inside of that black plastic code on the tiller gearbox end, and the twist or slip collar that is attached to the tiller is what gets connected to the tractor.
