Why some people are too stupid to own a car

A friend of mine's wife had a Bobcat. She did everything in her power to kill that car. Regularly ran it with the oil light on. You could hear the knock when she drove down the street. Finally passed it on to their son when he started driving and he got another couple years out of it. He...

    Ford 3000 Gas

I still think it's the coil because it occurs after significant run time (45 minutes). A float bowl has nowhere enough fuel for it to run that long before problem begins. New coils have been known to fail. Have it tested, cold and hot. A friend of mine had a new tractor that would idle...

    Ford 3000 Gas

Since it runs for 45 minutes, give or take, I doubt it's fuel delivery. Sounds like it's something to do with heat. No complex electronics on that era tractor so I would bet on the coil. May have issues as it gets hot. If it was an individual plug it would run rough as it lost power.

Finally a Home for My Stuff

Glad to see a proper concrete foundation. About the same size as mine. A good thing and a bad thing. Limits the amount of treasures (junk) you collect. Some things that should really be inside are not. Fortunately my home garage is a large double so my Gc2310 and one of my MF563s spend time there.

Three children, one adult dead in farm tractor crash in York County, PA.

too many urban people look at large farm equipment like it's a carnival ride. IT IS NOT! We used to have people come to the parents farm for produce and often the first thing their kids would do is climb on a tractor. Some people stopped coming when I admonished them. Tractors are serious...

My nephew, bit of a long hair lay about is coming down this weekend. His parents want him to be exposed to a different lifestyle than spending days down in the basement playing video games. He's supposed to be a good mechanic when motivated. I'll let him have a go before putting the Clagwell on...

buying a new to me tractor

I've had a few people here say that it won't get much for scrap weight and that I should put it at the end of the driveway. I just might do that. I have an old 2 furrow plow on steel wheels. I'll hitch them up and have a sort of gate guard. That should teach it a lesson for being so difficult...

buying a new to me tractor

Should have hung on to my money. This thing smokes and backfires like you wouldn't believe. Worse than a Soviet era car. Only 2 speeds and it grinds like crazy before you can get going. No reverse so you have to be careful to always have a straight ahead route. Then one or the other or both...

buying a new to me tractor

We decided to leave today and pick up my Hoyt Clagwell early Monday. Must have taken a wrong left turn in Albuquerque. We couldn't find Hooterville or the Shady Rest Hotel until late. They kept the kitchen open late just for us. Chef serves a mean plate of possum innards and mustard greens. We...

    Massey Ferguson nightmare

I bought a new 461 in 2006. Seemed fine on delivery. But little things started to creep in. Nothing serious, but annoying. Over the years had exclusively Masseys, my father going back to the old TO20 Fergusons. Never had any problems that were not from wear and tear over years. When I started...

Looking For Spike Harrow, 3 Point.

didn't know anyone still had one of those. I grew up using those on my parents farm. I haven't seen one in 30 years. Worked great. I'm sorry I sent mine for scrap.

buying a new to me tractor

Arnold and Oliver and I are going to pick it up tomorrow. Bit of a drive but Olivers Lincoln has a cushy ride. Can't wait until it warms up and I can put the Hoyt Clagwell to the test.

buying a new to me tractor

There's a low hour Hoyt Clagwell for sale not too far away. Priced very reasonably. It's been in storage for some time. Problem I hear is that parts and service are hard to get. Is worth the trouble?

What kind of box blade did I just buy?

Your Kubota is a miracle machine to pull that much. My Masseys have about 4 times the hp and 3 time the weight. Never run out of power pulling an 84" box blade. However when it starts to fill up they run out of traction. Maybe loose sand or gravel would be different. My place is more on the...

What kind of box blade did I just buy?

I bought a box blade probably 15 years ago. Used it twice. My tractors for this are two Masseys rated at 55pto hp and weighing in at 5500lbs + with loaded rears. Unless you are really good and quick with the hydraulics and don't take on too big a bite your little Ford isn't going to do much with...

I'm in shock... Kubota BX pricing

I've poked around looking at something new and yes the prices are just stupid. My machines are getting older, 2007, all 3, however the high hour one is under 800hrs. Just like the thought of something new. I went to the dealers and did the same thing as you. Got a quote. Thought about it and...

    Third Year In a Row!

If I could do it all over again I'd be a weather personality. What a great job. You come on the tube, scare people with Snowmagedon or whatever and have a laugh with the other news people. When you miss the prediction totally you come on and laugh about it again. If you started any other job...

Best 3 trucks you've ever owned.

I'll start with the worst. 1977 GMC 2500 Sierra Grande 350 4barrel carb. 10mpg. Bottom of the door fell off at 2 years old from rust, 30,000 miles. 4 years old and 47000 miles the body shop told me there wasn't anything to weld to for a body job. It would need all new body panels, door skins...

Can't believe Sams Club did me this.

Made an appointment to install tires at sears for first thing in the morning, 7:30am. I told the manager I had to be at work for 10am. No problem he assured me. I went across the street for a bite and coffee. Came back after 9 my car was still on the hoist, tires on the ground nobody anywhere...

Getting too old to step up 22”

I have a pair of Massey 563 tractors. Both under a 800 hours. I was going to trade them in for new Massey 2706Hs. A bit more horse that I really don't need but... I like new toys. Went to the dealer, climbed up on one, too high. They put the fuel tank under the foot rest so you can fuel from...

    Drag Harrow

a 3pth rock rake would make quick work of sand like that. You could lift it and get into tight areas unlike dragging around fencing and beams etc. Or a 3pth cultivator. Around here you can get a used one cheap and you have it for any future jobs. I've seen 5' and 6' ones go at auction for...

6 days without electricity here so far..

Lucky us. Bought a generator about 15 years ago. Twice a year I put a quart of fuel in, run it dry and change the oil. Only thing it's powered is a radio I listen to while I wait for it to run dry. Once every couple years we lose power for a few minutes.

    COYOTES

We have lots around here. They cycle in and out. This area has very limited deer so they are dependant on the small critters. It seams they stay in the area until they deplete the good hunting and then move on for a month or more until the waskly wabbits and others return in numbers. They...

    buying old or new question

Buy a new Massey 2600H series. No regen on them and tier 4 compliant. They come 38 to 65 PTO HP, 2 wheel & 4 wheel drive, mechanical 8x8 shuttle tranny. Love mine. A little bigger physically but it'll pull your workmaster around no problem.

    Kuhn any good? EL35-130 tiller

I have that exact one. Bought used about 20 years ago. I rototill about an acre of garden spring and fall and do similar for a couple neighbors. I'm **** about greasing things and maintaining gear oils. After all this time there are a couple blades need replacing. It has hit a rock here and...

What is the coldest you have ever been ?

It was winter 77 or 78. I was 16-17. Lost my driving priviliges so I was doing a lot of walking. Went to a party with friends in someones car. Clothing, tight jeans, light disco shirt, short leather jacket, disco style shoes. I was hanging around trying to pickup a girl when my ride left. I set...

    Does Anyone Buy Used Tractors?

I had the one dealer want more for the new tractor I was looking at with a trade than if I bought it straight up. He is no longer my dealer. I mentioned to a friend that I may be getting rid of a tractor and replacing it with a new one. He mentioned it at the local coffee shop. In the next 2...

Dealer changed the price 2 hours prior to delivery!

Went to my FORMER local Massey dealer. He came out to see what I was looking at. Quoted me a price. We went inside to his office and shot the s--t for a bit and he quoted me a new price, $2500 more. What the f...? I mentioned I had a few pieces I wouldn't mind trading in. He sent his son the...

What TV did you watch as a kid?

On a 26" B&W with a cabinet the size of a midsize car I didn't miss Benny Hill, Love Merican Style, Commander Tom and Rocketship 7(local kids TV shows) Looney Tunes. I remember running home at 12 noon to catch The Flintstones everyday, over and over again. Remember going to the local corner...

NX5510 - No hydraulics after filter and fluid change

What 2 things have been replaced? Hydraulic oil and the filter. I almost went crazy with a similar problem on a Kubota I bought at auction. New to me I went and changed fluids. No hyraulics no matter what I, we, they tried. Finally after an estimated $2500 repair was suggested by the dealer I...

Rotary Cutter Bush Hog Gear Box Leaking

My Bush Hog started leaking badly. It's an 8 footer with side shift. 3 gearboxes. Bottom seal went on one. It was more than I'm willing to spend for the repair of a 20 year old machine. I'm only mowing about 3-4 acres. I was just going to buy a 6foot 3pth replacement. Until I found the...

    Bar oil quality

I use my old hydraulic oil from my tractors. Done it my whole life. Never had a problem. When I first drain it I do let it sit so any contaminants settle to the bottom. Don't use the stuff off the bottom.

Do I really need a tractor on 1.5 acres?

I have a property with a little over 6 acres. Mostly level. I have 3 tractors. 2 Masseys with 55 rated pto hp, one with a FEL, and their smaller sister a mf1725m with a FEL. Overkill? I know not. You can never have too many tractors. I may only put on 80+ hrs all combined but I love doing...
