Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

Then why have the distinction of infrared? Just put a nuke in the living room and say it's safe because it just electromagnetic radiation.
  2. Snobdds

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

electromagnetic is a broad term of all wave lengths and infrared is a specific to the radiant heat spectrum

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

I'm glad were on the same page now. No, that's infrared heat (actual heat wave lengths) looking for an object to expel it's energy to. Convection has to have air (lots of it) moved over a heat source or through a heat exchanger.
  13. Snobdds

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

Nope, just radiant heat. You put a fan on or behind the stove, it's convection. You put a pot of water on top to produce steam, that is conduction.
  14. Snobdds

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

convection is something totally different than conduction.

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

That isn't quite how thermal radiant heat transfer works. In order for conduction to work, there has to be a temperature difference between two conductive bodies where heat can flow from hot to cold. It is not an instant thing either, there is a minimum time function for the transfer of energy...
  19. Snobdds

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

I understand thermal dynamics. Convection requires another source of energy to push radiant heat. Conduction requires the transfer of a heat source to another by the delta between two different conducting bodies.

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

What forms of Convection and conduction does a wood stove produce?
  23. Snobdds

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

My wood stove only produces radiant heat. Maybe yours has special crystals or something that defies physics.
  24. Snobdds

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

what comes off a stove so a fan can move? A stove only can make radiant heat...it takes another energy source to convert it to convective heat. Go play pong with someone else.
  25. Snobdds

Wood stove top fans (heat powered)

The question was, is it better to push air or pull air. Blowers on the back push air... There is your answer.
