Newer tractors, say 25 years old or newer, are designed to run on pump diesel. I view additives as something to make your wallet lighter. There are exceptions, say anti gel for the winter, fuel stabilizer for long term gas storage, and biocides for if you are getting growth in your diesel.

It is a smaller engine but it’s rated for more horsepower. It’s direct injection also which gives it more power. The only issue is it considerably lighter than the JD but with ballast you can take care of that.

Haydudes battery in the excavator is pretty obvious how the battery was installed at the factory if you look at the pictures carefully. During assembly the line starts with a battery and then they build the machine around it.

The traditional change over for model years is August, so a 12/23 date would normally be a 2024. I say normally because that is far from set in stone.

I’m not sure reading your post if the engine is stumbling or not? If it is there are two fuel filters on a BX, one up front near the engine and another one towards the back underneath. If you have a mid mount mower on you need to remove it to get at it. It’s almost always the back filter...

It’s a 12 year old thread, I’m not sure if any of those posters are still around or not but someone might help.

I just did mine a few days ago and used a wood sealer made by Olympic. I may switch to the diesel/used oil next time. I was afraid it would be kind of nasty but I know someone who uses it and it’s not to bad.

You might post a picture of how your return line is rigged and maybe someone can come up with a better setup.

I’d get a load tester and learn how to use it. You never know if they know what they’re doing at the parts store. Just experiment with it a little and you’ll learn how to read it. In your case you’ve discovered the problem hopefully.

They had a derailment near here several years ago. They had several of those dozer/crane setups there. What a mess, they cut the tankers open to offload whatever was in them. They had to build a quarter mile of gravel road just to get equipment to the site.

I’m going by memory here so it’s a little vague but I borrowed a tilt trailer once. It seems like you flipped a lever and the drove forward or backwards to make it tilt. Pretty slick.

Where is the fuel capon a B2601? They make all sorts of handy little fuel pumps for $20 or less. I usually pump a couple of gallons out of my 5 gallon cans and that makes it easier to dump from the can then.

A lot of it depends on payload. My F150 has a payload of about 1960 pounds. By the time I get in it and my toolbox it is down to about 1500 pounds. Working backwards assuming 20% tongue weight, that puts me at a 7500 pound gooseneck trailer loaded. It might put me over on my rear axle though.

Just use a file to repoint it, a coarse one of course, it might take a few minutes. :)

You can use a chain to lower them onto your trailer. It’s almost a two person job though. You pick it up, it’s not balanced, move the chain a little and so on until you get the log balanced enough to pick it up and on the trailer.

I owned a BX2350 for about 10 years. They tend to run hot. Mine would get up near the red if cutting really tall grass. Before I even got the tractor home they told me that was the case. If just cutting my lawn it would get close to the red but not in it.

You might be too large with your cutters and mowers with that tractor.

I had to put ramps under my ramps to get my Challenger on without it dragging. I didn’t want to because I could squeeze out the door but I could have folded down the rear seat and exited and entered through the trunk. The other car I hauled was an older Ford Taurus and it was quite a bit narrower.

No but almost. I’ve only hauled cars twice. It can be tough to get the door open. Removable fenders would help but it’s been over 10 years is used it to haul my Challenger. I don’t have rails either but the fenders and wheels are above the deck.

We had problems with our Samsung stove also. It blew something during its cleaning cycle. Fixed under warranty for free and has been fine since. The fridge has been fine.

We had a Samsung dishwasher that went bad at a young age. The bottom had a very slight leak and apparently it has leak detection so you don’t flood your house. We had someone in to repair it. The part wasn’t available but he found the price of one when it was available. He said it was over $700.

I’d assume some kind of small oil leak. Is there some kind of pvc valve going into the carb. That hose would have a little oil residue going through it if it leaks.

The only drawback for tilt trailer the way you’ll use it is they cost more. Not a huge amount more. I bought a 18 foot (2’ dovetail) 7k trailer about 15 years ago. Like you it just gets occasional use. Back then I paid a little more than $2000 for it. You’ll spend more these days.

To run a 6 footer you probably want at least a 30 horsepower if not 40. Just my opinion there are the “big two” in compact tractors. Kubota and John Deere. The build good ones and have a strong dealer network and support. They also cost the most. There are lots of other makers also that...

It’s hard to compare compact tractors to serious ag tractors or construction equipment but those 4000 hours would not be considered high for them. I think a careful look at it for bad leaks, smoke on start up, broken parts might let you know if it’s good.

If you do much loader work you are going to want a ballast box or some other kind of ballast.

This time of the year it should start without glow plugs. Is there a chance you sucked in a lot of dusty air with the intake hose off? That is obviously hard on the internals of an engine.

The best way to keep oil off the floor is to wear a watch with one of those flexible metal bands. That way when oil runs down your hand it doesn’t run down your arm and drip on the floor. The watch band catch’s the oil instead and stores it for you.

That’s not what happens to me. I have had mine jam because I don’t wind it but normally mine just gradually get shorter until I need to advance it.

You obviously need to keep it somewhat open for heat transfer.

The 50 hours is for fittings on the tractor, 10 hours is for the loader. Look in the separate loader manual.

I’d check the deck for level also. The blades do overlap in the way they cut, that’s why one blade in the middle is in front of the others.

I had a BX2350 for 10 years and mowed with a 60” deck with a mulch kit. If you have a golf course quality yard probably not good enough for you but for most people it cuts pretty good.

You could add a deck to your current BX I’d think. The end loader comes off easy enough and I’m sure with practice the BH would too.

For mostly mowing I’d go with the JD.

The way to test the starter in the tractor would be to go straight to the starter with a hot jumper wire to the battery. Don’t ask me how to do this in a safe manner though.

I own a 2025r and like it but I’d probably recommend at least a 2032r or a 3 series R instead. The newer auto connect decks are really nice.

Arly no matter what tractor you get it seems you will run into something that you wish it would lift but won’t. A 3033r had pretty decent lift capacity so yes it will do trail work.

If it a 10 quart and it’s a pint high, not a big deal. If it’s a 3 quart system and a quart high, that’s a problem.

Did you take the quick connects off and back on just to make sure they are seated. I’ve owned a tractor 14 years and twice I’ve not got them seated. They 100% look ok and won’t pull loose but aren’t on correctly. I’ve actually had things work backwards when this happens.

I think the problem is if I read his post correctly it weighs 18,000 pounds. Is that getting into semi and low boy territory?

I had never run a gear tractor until a few months ago. It wasn’t bad to run at all. I think for most homeowners an hst is better, myself included but there is nothing wrong with a gear tractor either.
