    I’d get a load tester and learn how to use it. You never know if they know what they’re doing at the parts store. Just experiment with it a little and you’ll learn how to read it. In your case you’ve discovered the problem hopefully.

    Where is the fuel capon a B2601? They make all sorts of handy little fuel pumps for $20 or less. I usually pump a couple of gallons out of my 5 gallon cans and that makes it easier to dump from the can then.

    Gooseneck for 150/1500 truck

    A lot of it depends on payload. My F150 has a payload of about 1960 pounds. By the time I get in it and my toolbox it is down to about 1500 pounds. Working backwards assuming 20% tongue weight, that puts me at a 7500 pound gooseneck trailer loaded. It might put me over on my rear axle though.

    You can use a chain to lower them onto your trailer. It’s almost a two person job though. You pick it up, it’s not balanced, move the chain a little and so on until you get the log balanced enough to pick it up and on the trailer.

    I had to put ramps under my ramps to get my Challenger on without it dragging. I didn’t want to because I could squeeze out the door but I could have folded down the rear seat and exited and entered through the trunk. The other car I hauled was an older Ford Taurus and it was quite a bit narrower.

    No but almost. I’ve only hauled cars twice. It can be tough to get the door open. Removable fenders would help but it’s been over 10 years is used it to haul my Challenger. I don’t have rails either but the fenders and wheels are above the deck.

    The only drawback for tilt trailer the way you’ll use it is they cost more. Not a huge amount more. I bought a 18 foot (2’ dovetail) 7k trailer about 15 years ago. Like you it just gets occasional use. Back then I paid a little more than $2000 for it. You’ll spend more these days.

    The best way to keep oil off the floor is to wear a watch with one of those flexible metal bands. That way when oil runs down your hand it doesn’t run down your arm and drip on the floor. The watch band catch’s the oil instead and stores it for you.
