One more time..LP or FC finish mower?

Let me prefece this with discussion by saying I have a very honest dealer. I got a call yesterday and they told me they had double charged me for the disc and rake I bought back in August. Seems the wife failed to catch it thinking everything justs "costs a lot". Cool... an $1100 dolar refund...

Ear Protection plus radio ..just in time..

Football season in full swing.. found a sale on Peltor Worktunes (combination ear protection and AM/FM radio) for $53.25. Their ad said good until 8/31 but since the web still shows it they sold it to me for that price. Saw some other sites at $59 and one for $150 if you can believe that. Here...

    Changing lyrics to songs..

As I drove around the front 2 acres Sunday using my new disc to condition the soil and finish killing (I hope) the kudzu that called this land home, a couple of songs came to mind: "Discing the night away"; Chubby Checkers "I'm all disced up"; Elvis "I disced it my way"; Frank Sinatra (and I...

    Seeding question

I spent the weekend discing the front 2 acres of our property and next weekend I'll be box blading it to get it level. I plan on using a landscape rake for the final preperation but wondered if I should spread the grass seed before I do the raking? Would the rake help "bury" the seed a bit? GS

    Another window question

The design for our new house calls for transom windows over the doors. I would like these to open either using a crank or just pull open. They should be screened as well. I want to take advantage of the nice evenings without having a security issue. Anyone know of a company that makes these? GS

A few attachment questions for the evening...

I think I have no choice but to get a disc harrow with the vines that are all over my property. I have run the box blade a lot which helps but that doesn't seem to get most of them. I have no problem getting one, I have another 15 acres to deal with once I finish this piece and I see that if I...

Throttle and 3 point hitch hydrolics question

Throttle first since it is easy. The throttle on my L3010 is VERRRRY hard to move up or down. Normal? Solution if not? Let's hear it for bad manuals again. The L3010 manual describes a position control and a draft control (if equipped). It goes on to pretty much describe only those units that...

Quick Hitches  3 point hitch quick connector..got one?

I went to Tractor Supply Co. for the 1st time today. Just wanted to see what they had. I saw the quick connector for the 3 point hitch and it looked as if it would make the task of attaching and deattaching much easier. Anyone out there got one? Does it work good? It really doesn't seem like a...

    Help with attaching and detaching..

Yes I am a tractor newbie who can afford the land and the tools but don't know squat about tractors. Fine..I have said it so maybe someone will take pity and help me along now. I tried to get the cutter off the L3010 today and I will admit defeat..at least in accomplishing the task in the...

    Toothbar installation with cordless drill

Talked to Carver this morning and they didn't think it would be possible. This is a problem because there is no power on the land. I suppose I could drive it to the closest house and plug a drill in, but what do you think? Can an 18 volt 1/2" drill cut the mustard drilling the holes? (Assuming...

What works best for moving limbs etc?

We are clearing our 5 acres and getting quite a bit of limbs, small trees etc and I want an easy way to get them together into burn piles. I tried pushing them with the FEL but they kept slipping under it. Would a tooth bar help? Forks? Any other ideas? GS

Do you cary a weapon on your tractor?

As I push deeper and deeper into the property I am getting into some real tall and dense growth. I am going real slow since I have no idea of the terrian or what maybe laying there such as stumps, logs, irragation pipes, etc. Yesterday afternoon however, I saw something other than those. About...

6 Hours on new L3010 yesterday!

The tractor arrived around 9 yesterday morning and the delivery truck promptly got stuck in the sandy part of the road so that became the unloading point. Fortunately my neighbor was there and they drug him out with his 4WD PU. After getting all the instructions and finishing the paperwork it...

How are "Hours" recorded? And a break-in question

How are \"Hours\" recorded? And a break-in question I get my tractor next Wed. (my first) and will be spending the next 5 days (or less if I get lucky) clearing 5 acres of very overgrown land. I am getting concerned that I will be near the 50 hour service point and not have the project done. Is...

    Any car mechanics here?

A problem has come up with my Chevy S-10 since I arrived here in Florida. It is a 4300 V6, 4 speed automatic. The daily commute is 35 miles with 4 traffic lights going and 3 coming home. The trip is 9 miles of 50 - 60 and then 20 of 75 - 80 (trucks force you to do that on the interstate) then...

The deed is done..L3010 HST purhased today!

What a neat machine! Easier to operate than I expected, but not knowing didly-squat about tractors I had only fears. This is a tractor which will eliminate those pretty quickly. Thankfully I had read a lot here so he couldn't impress me with some of the basics of the tractor but it still amazed...

Price Check  Going in price for L3010..Am I close?

The local dealer called me back this morning with his price for the following: L3010 HST, FEL, 6' bush hog (don't know brand yet), 5' box blade (don't know brand), R4s, and a sun shade. $19, 800 net of rebate. Plus tax which is 2.5% if I am into some kind of agriculture adventure on my...

I am not Bunny but I am in distress!

I completed the move to Florida over the last two weeks and now it is time to get serious about this tractor thing. Spring thoughts turn to tractors?

Not what we heard growing up is it? I sent an e-mail off to the dealer close to my new location in Florida to begin the negotiations for a L3010. Asked them to quote 4WD, Hydro, R4s, TnT, FEL, a box blade and bush hog. A sun canopy also. Wonder what 1st quote will be? Any guesses? GS

Cigars! Who out there likes them?

Just joined yesterday and was wondering if anyone else here smokes cigars. They are one of my "excesses" which will suffer with the tractor acquisition I suppose. My favorites tend to be full bodied, but I like some of all strengths for variety. All Fuentes, esp. the Don Carlos line, Padrons...
