Need help with Piston / Gear pump seal leak?

I'm trying to understand why the paper gasket in-between the Piston and Gear pump leaks? What I mean is, where is the oil exactly coming from, because after looking at pictures on these pumps, it looks like there should be no oil where they connect at. Thanks for reading and any advise will...

    EH72 FI in new PT-425?

From all of the posts I read about the EH72 FI, I wouldn't get one myself. There's allot of posts on here about vapor locking with those engines. I'm not sure if anyone found the true reason why that happens with those engines? My regular 25hp Subaru never had any issues with that, or...

PT 425 and attachments for sale

This PT is for sale to anyone interested. $11,200 for the whole package, or pieces sold separately. I sent Power Trac the pictures, asking them if they would put them on their "used" page.

    Deutz thermostat

Is it normal for the 1430 to only get up to 100 degrees after running for about 7 minutes (ambient temp 65 degrees.) Also, when I add oil to the Top Oil Fill Up when it is cold, should I notice the oil level went up on the dip stick? Thanks everyone. Josh

    Deutz Front Seal Leak

Okay, I figured thats what it was for. Its nice how these wheel motors have case drains, as where my 425 doesn't. That clear pre-filter sounds like a good idea. Terry was telling there is a screen in the bottom of the fuel tank, too. It has a part number in the PT 1430 book. Since my feet...

    Subaru engine shroud

The Subaru has been drawing in leaves and grass that the back tires kick up, so this 304 stainless steel mesh seems to keep all of that junk from being drawn into the shroud and staying there. As I recall, someone on here had a Subaru engine fail and later found out the leaves and grass was...

    air-cooled diesel for PT-425?

Having a diesel PT was the way I wanted to go, although, the 1430 is just a little too big for what would be practical in my case. I'm just wondering if there is anyone that has ever looked into putting an air-cooled diesel engine in their PT-425? Air-cooled would seem more savvy to me since one...

OK, decision time: 28 or 35

Thanks. Thats what I sort of figured. As far as the life of the Subaru EH72 goes, hopefully it will last a good while after installing the fan and Subaru header/muffler.

Overheated Robin EH72-FI (28 hp) in PT-425 solved

Re: Changes to the Subaru Exhaust I'm going to add a bracket for the muffler, yet. Maybe the I'll bring the muffler in toward the hood about an inch more, too? We'll see how it goes after the bracket is made for the muffler.

Overheated Robin EH72-FI (28 hp) in PT-425 solved

I tried to get that exhaust header package and I'm coming up empty? So, Im having a bike racing shop nearby make me a custom header pipe to fit on this muffler, after carefully, taking allot of temp readings at different locations on and around the motor. I'm thinking about mounting it where I'm...

Treadle to hand control conversion on 1430

Thanks MR. This is the next project. The Subaru header and muffler was supposed to be shipped out to me, but then I notice the man refunded me for it and said they were not in stock. I looked all over for another one to buy, but came up empty. So, I bought a muffler 3 1/2" in diameter , and am...

Treadle to hand control conversion on 1430

Here is a better picture of me controlling both levers at the same time. We use to have a John Deere 540G log skidded and it had a lever for the blade, power shift, and the winch; after a while you just start working two levers at the same time once you get the feel for it. I spent maybe 2...

    Steiner PTO speed?

I was wondering if anyone knows what the speed is of the bottom PTO pulley (that hooks to the attachment) on the Steiner 430 Max? At a speed of around 3500 rpm. The reason I'm asking is because I'm converting a attachment to a hydraulic motor and would like to know what type of speed I need.

    PT-425 touch up paint?

I was wondering if anyone found a name brand paint that is close to the PT-425 green? Your answers are appreciated.

    Question about lift (pivot) pins

My Steiner has pins with no grease fittings or anything to stop the pins from rolling inside the mount holes. Therefore, obviously likely to wear the holes lose. Does anyone think that a grade 8 bolt with a nylon lock nut would work without rolling when lifting a heavy load? Thanks for...

Electrical question about the direction of D/C current flow

Hello everyone, I will use a general example of the light on a tractor. When you turn the light switch on, does the D/C current flow from the positive post in through the switch, through the light and into the frame, or does it come in through the frame first (negative post) then through the...

    Link to stump grinder project

Yeah, that sure did help, thanks. The 430max of mine is nice for allot of things (plowing snow/mowing grass especially), as it sounds like you already know there is definitely allot of restriction on the height lift. Like you said, the PT already comes with the front end loader. Also, even if I...

    Trailer lights not working consistently

My trailer lights work sometimes, sometimes not and was thinking that the problem was in the connection that plugs into my truck circuit. After checking things with the test light and multimeter I think now that the problem is that the light boxes are not getting the proper ground, so I'm going...

Steiner 430 Max Diesel Hydraulic Issue

They are awesome machines. You know how those pivot pins on the Steiner roll around when the front lift is working; my thought is that those holes on the mount/axel will get wore from all of the movement from the pins. Obviously there are no grease fittings either. The PT 425 has a bolt with a...

I'm a new member from Pennsylvania

Hello, This looks like the web site for "tractor talk" and the 2009 Steiner 430 Max of mine is always fun to work on and put to work. I was down in Tazewell Virginia last year to look at the Power trac pt 425 and pt 1430. The PT425 will probably be my next machine.
