PTO shaft oil seal removal JD 2020

The metal that the rubber is fastened to comes out also. It's in there snug, but I've never had a problem pulling one. Get an old wood chisel or something and drive it behind it then twist it. Bend a screwdriver, sharpen and tap it in there. Or the slide hammer. Whatever you have.

    Dump trailer questions

I lived down there a couple years. I know the roads, and those dang painted pom pom buses. Maybe 2 yards max if you have trailer. Brakes. Both axles. No more than that. The bigger the vehicle, the more right of way it has. That's traffic law down there.

We have a few of those tractors. Yes it has a mechanical pump. Take it off and check for a leak by just blowing on it. If injector lines go onto top of pump, that pump runs in oil and oil level must be kept up. There is a fill plug on side and drain plug on bottom. We check ours each time...

Need Advice with Mud & Horses. Rookie

If you get a few cases of foot rot, life will change. Horses can go through mud but they don't do good living in it. Cows also. When they get lame, you realize how big they are. My oldest horse is a 94 model. He is not in mud unless he wants to be. Still in good shape and healthy.

    5740 starting oil pressure delay.

Just because the light is on does not mean you don't have pressure. Newer gauges have tiny holes like size of a hair. Which is good because if it fails, it won't blow oil out fast and ruin your engine. But, cold thick oil takes a little bit to open gauge.

Hi there my 1980 ish Massey Ferguson 245 tractor is making terrible engine noise what is causing this?

I wouldnt crank it again. You may have lost a rod bearing. It may be fixable in the tractor where it is. I've seen beat out bearings and the crank and rod was still fine. Just put new bearings in it. I've done it on the grass in the front yard. The key is dont run it no more. It's worth...

Stuff that's been sitting, junk settles to bottom of oil pan and 0lugs oil pickup. Seen a few crank and go people deal with that. Good way to swarm a good engine. I've seen the stick read full, take the drain plug out and nothing comes out. I'd rather deal with that at the house.

    Hi-Lift Jacks... debating 4ft vs 5ft..

More Power Puller is a hoss. There was one at the house when I came into this world 52 years ago. Hi Lift jacks are okay if you have bumpers on each end. I carry a shorty hydraulic jack and a regular. An assortment of blocks. The factory jack makes me want to cry. Hi Lift is still good for...

    Hi-Lift Jacks... debating 4ft vs 5ft..

I use a rail road toe jack for them trailers. Watch for one in pawn shops or flea markets.

    Hi-Lift Jacks... debating 4ft vs 5ft..

Yes. I drill through my handle and put a pin or bolt through it. On truck bumpers, they get on a good tilt before wheel comes up. you have to chock the front wheel because if it rolls forward you can gouge your tail gate. Or bust your grille if on the front. I carry one in my old metal...

    Hi-Lift Jacks... debating 4ft vs 5ft..

I'd get the Hi Lift. It has a removable handle. Mine have pipe handles I put in them. Others have welded handles and I've seen many broken ones. As far as length, I have one that's 3' and I just use it to break beads on tires. Useless for other things. Several 4' versions. I have one 4'...

    Backwards tractor

Yes we have one that hinges in the middle. Well, two actually. But having them steering type wheels close to a plow, not too sure about that.
  127. R

    Backwards tractor

Yeah, but it would be terr8ble with a 3 pt on the steering end. Tear your plows up.

Does anyone make a good 12V auto/tractor battery charger anymore?

Yard sales and flea markets. Bought a brand new Sears still taped up in box for 4 bucks. I say no to smart things. Just got asked for one so the man can charge his trolling motor battery. Smart charger won't do it. Or go ahead and get a two wheel roll around. They still work.

Guy down in Texas makes one. Carbide blade saw type. Cuts off below ground level. Uses pto to turn it and slides back with hydraulics cylinder. Nice outfit.

Best firearm for home protection? I realize a lot is personal choice involved?

I unders5and that if the door kicks in and I suddenly awake, I'm not wasting time jacking around. But, if I can change a line of thought, I'd rather do that. Give a bad guy a chance to change his mind. May change his life. If the do9r is broke in, it's blaze of glory time.

Best firearm for home protection? I realize a lot is personal choice involved?

So, in the military, instructor told us to close our eyes. He stepped behind us and racked the action. He asked who knows what that sound was? All hands raised. He was where I heard the term UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. if someone comes in my house, they won't remember leaving.

Best firearm for home protection? I realize a lot is personal choice involved?

If I have a 12 GA I do not care if they know EXACTLY where I'm at. Soups on boys come n get it. My dog don't bark. Pawed me awake. Someone messing with the front door. Saw the shadow, watched the knob. Jacked the action, they left. I didn't have to call anybody. Didn't do no paperwork...

    Cylinder Leak Down test?

Yes, but if you leave a cup of oil out and get it to move after it hits the oil, you've got a problem. You didn't have to drill holes, just remove the packing.

Ideas for Leveling Dirt and Seeding for Grass with Tractor

    Cylinder Leak Down test?

All you gotta do is lose a cup of fluid so it has room to move. Best thing is run the tractor and if one cylinder is hot and one is not, rebuild them two. If you dont do both, you'll do the other in two weeks. You're talking about the volume displacement that the rod causes. Hydrolocking.
  145. R

    I'm missing something: Front-end 4-wd

I wouldn't want a locker in the front of a tractor. You don't have lock in hubs. Limited slip is fine. You say you don't run on pavement. Really no hard surface at all. Hard surface, 4x4, loader, something is gonna give. Any 4x4, ANY, the ratios change when you turn. Full time 4x4...
  146. R

    Cylinder Leak Down test?

No, you can plug both line ends of cylinder and as piston moves fluid just goes from one side of piston to the other as the rod compresses or extends.

    Gravel Driveway - pothole

Yes, no need in disturbing 99.875% of your road just for a few holes. You have a road to maintain. Extra gravel is good to have. Just get a bag of Portland cement, fill the hole with gravel, sprinkle a couple handfuls of Portland on it, maybe water, and leave the rest of your good drive alone.
