You would be absolutely correct in buying the larger Kioti, I have never known anyone to say they wish their tractor was smaller. Kioti makes an awesome tractor that will give you many years of service.

Buy the 4700 series Massey, if it's the 4707 (70hp) that you won't go for it. You won't be sorry, in my opinion they are the most tractor for the money right now.

Those are certainly good names, what I look for mostly whenever I am pump shopping is something with a Franklin Electric motor. We have installed quite a few and they just seem to last for many years.

Exactly, that's where the load needs to be as close to the rear tires as possible. As you know a backhoe makes a lot of things move and twist.

Eddie, we discussed the JB Weld route and discovered that some people have already tried this avenue and it failed. The epoxy route doesn't hold up to the pressure and twisting that happens on the radiator mounting posts.

Like said earlier get what feels best to you, you can't go wrong with either.

If I were buying a new tractor it would be the 4700 series Massey, I almost bought a 4710 for what I thought was an excellent price but at the last minute decided that I didn't really need it.

Bradco subframe modified to fit my RX.

Thanks for sharing this info, I retrofitted the subframe that was on my Mahindra to fit the Kioti. It stays on the tractor and the Bradco 509 backhoe fits into the subframe notches (like a frontend loader hookup) whenever hooking up. I often look everything over to ensure things are still stable.

Partner it's not just Kioti, check the web and you'll see quite a few Massey's as well as others that have also been abused beyond their intended use.

Magister Hydraulics: hydraulic manufacturer - cylinders, pumps valves, power units and repair parts They can fix you up with whatever you need and the prices are very reasonable compared to OEM.

It's resin over a steel ring like most others are made. I would rather not use a cover, pretty simple to fill in with epoxy.

Within the first couple of years of owning my RX the steering wheel developed a crack, it was replaced under warranty. Now about 6 years later this one has 2 cracks, I believe what happens is the resin shrinks and causes it to separate. I'm in the process of attempting a repair with stick epoxy...

That's a good question, I'm not sure who makes the backhoe assembly. Maybe check Bradco or Woods specs and see if they would be an option.

I have a set of pallet forks that I probably use a couple times a year so to me it's no big deal using the curl function to keep the pallet level. We use the pallet fork on my buddy's McCormick with a non-self-leveling loader and it works just fine.

It isn't an OEM bucket but the OEM one isn't any better.

Just a tip for you guys that have issues with the heat on the earlier 800 models, insulate under the seat and around the under seat structure. It will make a big difference.

Good writeup Pete, I have the Curtis cab on mine with the tip open windshield and it's great in the heat of summer. I use mine for everything around the farm and it's been as reliable as the day is long. I would buy another without hesitation.

Tried and true, that's the most important aspect. Working through all of the TIER 4 stuff (on a tractor) isn't for a lot of us.

Sounds like you are more than qualified to oversee the project, trust your instincts/knowledge and also trust your county inspectors to do their jobs. It's up to the inspectors to ensure things are installed up to code.

Take your time, do a lot of research and most of all don't be color blind. There are an awful lot of equal tractors in all colors not to mention don't skimp on weight.

Our Harbor Freight store is usually fairly busy every time I go in there; I was looking at their large tool chests and they do look impressive for the money. I currently use Vidmar cabinets for my tool boxes and they also work great, high quality rollers on the drawers help with the heavy tools.
