Either pipe clamps or bar clamps are infinitely adjustable. A 5 foot long one will go all the way down to nothing. It’s kinda aggregating to use a long clamp for short clamp work though.

It doesn’t need to be super accurate. Any accuracy would be lost when you bevel it for a good weld. Cut it freehand with an angle grinder if you feel like it. Just make sure it’s aligned straight when you re weld it.

I like to run max pressure in mine it makes steering easier but running almost half of maximum is definitely going to cause the outside wear faster.

It’s pretty normal for the outside of the tires to wear faster. Under inflation would make the problem worse. The fronts are pretty high pressure tires at least compared to the back. Have you checked the pressure?

A toothed saw blade and heat don’t get along good at all. I’m guessing these are low quality cylinders that a bandsaw would zip right through but in the event that fails just cut the whole thing with an abrasive saw.

My skid loader does the same job with a regular single acting cylinder. As long as the pins had a stop so it had to pull both pins vs pulling one twice as far there’s no reason it wouldn’t work.

Skidder ruts are sometimes 3-4 feet deep with stumps in the middle. A D6 would be more inline with smoothing them out vs a box blade.

I don’t like straps on equipment. It’s too easy to cut them. Use edge protection if you go that route but I’d recommend using chains. I’d be surprised if the 2” strap has an 8k working load too.

5,000 pounds is a tiny skid loader. A 10,000 pound skid steer or even bigger will beat the farm tractor especially running without ballast which most farmers tend to do.

Not traveling with the load raised is common sense but the fixed frame skid loader is inherently a lot more stable than a pivot axel tractor.

Tracks are better to bridge a hole in the ground but they’re worse going across a bump like a curb. Tracks have a longer foot print than the same model with wheels and are more stable and lift more.

I have a Kubota SVL75 which a medium sized tracked machine. I’m not a fan of the wheeled ones. They get stuck all the time. This pallet weighed 4380 pounds at the rock quarry and the 75 unloaded it.

The skid steer is plenty strong enough to do the job. The visibility is going to suck with the bale blocking most of your view but I don’t see why it won’t do the job. There’s videos of people with multiple bales at a time on skid steers.

Plastic windows are no doubt softer than glass but grit on a glass windshield will still scratch them.

This isn’t a mulcher but a medium duty rotary cutter. This is only rated for a 4” tree so not as mean as other options but I was happy with the performance. It doesn’t chop up the trees very good and is more of a hack it down tool is the main drawback.

Agreed. A leaf spring Ford drives like a brick, the gas motors weren’t of the same reliability ( the diesels even worse ) and the serviceability is overall harder.

That’s total bs. A 6.0 Chevy isn’t as powerful as other options but is one of the most reliable vehicles ever built. Even ford and dodge enthusiast can’t find many rocks to throw.

26,000 pounds for the load and trailer not counting the truck seems fair to me.

The 48 doesn’t have any more boom than the 40 does. The 250 and I’d assume the 50 Deere has a little bit bigger boom.

The Tackuchi tb250 outweighs the Kubota 40 by a thousand pounds or so. I’d recommend taking a look at a Deere 50. It’s a tad bigger then the 40 and a more refined piece than the Tackuchi.

Those just need to be snug and nothing more. You’ll deflect the loader ears if you over tighten them. It looks like the loaded ears already are bent to the inside.

If I pile everything up in nice piles it will burn but as far as burning everything where it lays on the ground isn’t happening. It actually works a lot better to start a small fire and continue adding on vs making a big pile and then trying to set it on fire.

There’s no regulation against doing that but the pile is too sloppy combined with 60 inches of annual rainfall. It just won’t burn in place.

I’d like to have a smaller trailer that’s wide enough but I don’t have one so I use my 14k tilt deck. I need 78 inches between the fenders to load my other mower and less overkill trailers are rare with that fender width.

Unlike a tractor it won’t hurt the skid loader to back drag with the bucket titled way down. I’d work it with the skid steer 90 degrees to the driveway and back drag it back in.

The under 75 hp machines that don’t have DEF are pretty reliable. The above 75 hp machines with def are far worse.

Welding tractor fenders isn’t that hard with a mig and something a little bit thicker like seat frames or latches isn’t hard at all.

Can you twist that dial to adjust the brakes? I have a few prodigy controllers and I hate the newer model with the push button adjustments vs the wheel.

Burning is legal there and the fire danger is close to zero to that’s the plan. The brush is the easier part. There’s still stumps in that mess that’s the harder part to deal with.

I currently have 5 pieces of equipment with turbos. The closest thing to a turbo problem I’ve had is a coolant leak that wasn’t even directly on the turbo. There’s literally millions of turbos out there and they’re reliable.

Your underground tanks probably maintained a constant temperature which is a lot better for fuel storage vs a tank that fluctuates temperature and produces condensation.

I doubt that tractor has DEF. It probably uses a DPF. A DPF isn’t my favorite thing but it seems to be fairly reliable. A lot more so than DEF. DEF = diesel exhaust fluid. DPF = diesel particle filter.

A tractor isn’t a good tool for land clearing. They’re not durable enough for that work. Usually a dozer and excavator is the go to tools for land clearing. But I’m assuming burning probably isn’t allowed there. A mulcher might be the best solution.

A semi only has safety chains on a dolly. The main 5th wheel doesn’t use them.

Dewalt 18 volt batteries are top post where the 20 volt batteries are flat top. Nothing is directly interchangeable. They make adapters. They’re kinda clunky but that might be an acceptable compromise for light use.

Spreading in a 4 foot lift is a way different situation than spreading gravel on a road.

Why would they not truck spread? That’s the fastest least work intensive way assuming it’s fairly level with enough overhead clearance. It makes even more sense of they’re pulling a pup since it doesn’t have to be backed around sideways to dump the truck.

Joystick controls are great. I’m honestly surprised nobody has put them in a vehicle especially for partly disabled people.

I think they are reinforcements to help the rail from getting bent more than anything and also could be used for rope.

Because the 2 chains are 2 chains so 2x the working load and the load can’t shift sideways. With 1 chain going through the drawbar you only have the working load of one chain and minimal resistance to side shifting.

If you’re strictly doing 4 way chaining I’d go shorter. A 10 foot is a good all around chain though.

I usually use chains for the diagonal tie downs and straps for straight across tie downs. A stake pocket with a rub rail works better in the application IMO. Also a D ring is really made for a straight line pull where the optimal chain angle is 45 degrees. I’d put my money on the stake pocket...

That was a single axel truck with a tag and a single axel trailer with a tag axel and the tag axels were off the ground so there was almost no scrubbing in that maneuver.

Prices aren’t going down and inflation isn’t going to reverse so it doesn’t really matter but if prices were cut by half or more and you had half as much money you’d be better off.

A 10 footer is a little short to go all the way across. If you’re using 4 chains 10 foot is more than sufficient.

I had to reconfigure the toolbox and jack on my trailer. It didn’t play nice with the truck bed. This trailer has D rings which is the only trailer I’ve had with them. I much prefer a rub rail with stake pockets.

Per DOT regulations a 7,000 pound tractor requires 2 chains on the main body plus the attachments. Using 4 4,700 pound rated chains in addition to another 2 for the attachments is in far excess of the minimum requirements.

I just saw this machine on market place. I’ve seen some track loader backhoes but that’s the first articulated backhoe I’ve seen especially that small. They were ahead of their time with a mini articulated loader with the ability to work off both ends. They could have had something with that.

Agreed. It would be close to impossible to build a loader/digger that can turn 360 degrees, keep the cab to the side of the boom and not put the engine between the operator and the loader bucket. Giving up any of those features is a considerable disadvantage.

My backhoe that’s designed a bit more robust with a price tag to match has a frame that runs the entire length of the machine. That’s really how all tractors that are claimed backhoe/loader capable should be designed.

A tractor loader really isn’t the optimal tool for scooping hard pack dirt but a tooth bar will help a lot. Also use your backhoe to break it up before digging with the loader.

Is 56 all you can run on a tri axel truck? Nobody runs them here. We can run 74k on a tri axel truck and only 80k on a combo so there’s no room left to use one.

Mineral spirits dries oily. I’d switch to alcohol or if you need harsher acetone for glass. Don’t put acetone on fake glass though because that doesn’t go well.

No it was on the site at that time. I was going to use the Kubota to push that log under the case but the case couldn’t lift itself out of the mud. So I used the Kubota to clear some mud from in front of the tracks and the case was able to drive out. A trackhoe is pretty good at recovering itself.

I used to buy tractor supply oil for $5 a gallon. I think it’s closer to 10 now. RK sells value brand gear oil or 15/40 motor oil for about $10 and that would be my next option before I paid $20.

Agreed. It’s a way bigger mess than bar oil and bar oil isn’t that expensive I have no problem running just about any other kind of oil but used motor oil is a mess. Especially diesel oil that’s filthy black and stains everything.

Some cylinders are difficult to dissemble but besides that they’re pretty easy to rebuild.

The 5.9 and the 7.3 were always fairly comparable across the same timeframe especially considering the displacement difference.
