    New Tractor Sales Are Declining

How much of this is due to tractors having much longer useful lives than any other major machine or vehicle? I don't see people around here changing tractors every 3 - 5 years.

    4400 Opinion

Just went thru a 4400 owned by the county and purchased at their annual equipment auction. A REALLY nice machine, Quick starting even in 20 deg weather. Hydrostat. ~35 hp. The perfect haying tractor for a beginner. 4WD with QA equipped loader. Easy on and off. This machine could not be...

10 ton manual wood splitter, convert to run on remotes

Complete waste of time. Tractor pressure will blow the ram apart. Awkward control position, wood in location A. Controls in location B. Dangerous if 2 person's trying to work together. Most common cylinder size is a 4"x24". Thats 15 tons at 2500 psi. Used splitters all over the place...

why so many jeeps now on road?

What I've learned is don't follow one around a corner. Their drivers seem to be afraid of rolling over and slow down to the point of dragging a large line of normal cars down in speed. Unfortunately, they go 65 in the high speed lane on an expressway and 80+ in the right lane. But, very...

I've had one in use many times. More than just house backup. Portable power anywhere. You don't need to run it 24/7. Just fire it up long enough to get a water reserve, heat or cool in the house, batteries charged, refrigerator cold and shut it down. Fire it up again after a few hours or...

JD 4300 quits when going uphill.

Your tank's fuel pickup hose is in the front of it. If this line has a crack or perforation in it, then an uphill climb will expose this crack to air and lead to stalling. Then after some cranking, air gets pulled through and it starts again. Otherwise, maybe a safety switch is borderline and...

Put some more air in the steered tires. If they are Turf (R3) switch to R4's (loader tires with stiff sidewalls). Tail wheel meets truck tire: Replace?

I was a tire engineer. Water will get into the tread package, rust the steel wires and you will be faced with a 'belt edge separation'. That's a sudden & immediate failure (blow out). You should have a spare somewhere in that rig, yes or no? For steered tires, you need equivalent pairs. 1...

Attaching field fence to back of t post

I'm not picky about how it's fastened. I take some thick steel wire, cut off sections mybe 6" long, fold them over and around the fence and post. Then stick both ends in my battery drill and give it a whirl. Nice and tight. Maybe 3 loops top to bottom.

How do I move this FAST? Lost land lease to developers

I'd first try to pull out the posts set in concrete. What have you got to loose ? A chain on your 5055's lower links wrapped around a post may pull up. Then you could flop it on the back wall and tow it to a new location. Need new holes, but that's what biscuits can get done.
