I know you can get a Massey 2800m with mid PTO and I believe you can add that to some John Deere but not 100% sure.

John Deere 4 series M and R are both available with a power shuttle. Massey Ferguson 2800M series also have the power shuttle. Massey is probabaly the best price of the Deere, Kubota, Massey trio, and believe it is as good as any of them.

You do you, but the rake master is the only grapple I know of with a plate welded between the tine and the thumb section making it unique in being able to grab post and small trees etc. It can literally pluck stuff up. Not easy to do at all with most grapples. Check out this you tube video...

Yanmar has a very affordable 3rd function kit for the YM. No need to look elsewhere for that. If I remember right, it is like a $800 option. And I agree, the YM series is head and shoulders above the other 3 models you were looking at.

Power Shuttles are simple to use with loader work. No clutch, just flip the shuttle.

LS makes machines for New Holland and Case. Massey compacts and subcompacts are 100 Iseki. Engines made in Japan, and all M models made in Japan. They are still less by quite a bit than a comparable Kubota or Deere, but more than an LS or TYM. Fairly comparable to Kioti though. Best value that...

Check out Massey Ferguson if you have a good dealer around. 1800m and 2800e both excellent tractors.

The 4820 is wider than the 474 by about a foot, and sits up quite a bit taller with larger wheels, more on the size of the 494. It’s a foot shorter than the 494 though, but class wise it’s considered on par with the 494 size machine.

if you have a good Yanmar dealer, than the YM342 is what I would recomend. Its size is better than the Kioti and Kubota, and hard to beat Yanmar quality.

T 494 is what I would suggest. It’s about the same frame size as the MX5400 you had. I’d like the added weight for moving larger logs and wider frame for stability. Cost is only a couple grand more. Seems like a no brainer to me (Except if you find a cherry used MX5400 Kubota).

The closest dealer to me is a Massey Ferguson dealer. About 15 miles away. Within a half hour I have a Kubota dealer and 2 John dealer dealers. Within an hour, I have another Massey dealer dealer along with just about everything else.

Well for New Holland, they were always red and yellow from what I remember. They didn’t have tractors until they bought Fords blue tractors and the color stayed for New Hollands tractor line. Frankly, I am much more concerned with the paint quality than the actual color itself.

TYMs specs will win just about everytime, against any make. Just keep in mind they are paper specs, and most won’t ever tell the difference. And specs do not always make a better tractor.

Echo 590 is a superior saw to the rancher 460. 620p is the step up. Husky and Stihl make better saws, but you will pay for them. If making a living off the saw, then go Stihl or Husky, but around the farm or home, it’s hard to beat the Echo.

Do yourself a favor and check out a Massey 2860M. Don’t test the power shuttle version, or you will buy it and have to keep the current hydro. The hydro version is pretty sweet also, but love that power shuttle.
