    I had similar problems as JCoastie with my LS XR4140C. Brought it to my dealer and he tracked it down to a loose or broken ground wire. Works fine now. How he tracked it down to that I have no idea but tractor is fine just a loose wire. Way cheaper than most other ideas posted Worth having checked.
