    Terraced land

My property is almost entirely terraced. In order to mow safely, I don’t let the grass get over about 8 inches. Rolling my tractor is one of my biggest fears.

    TOOLS & THINGS

I learned about bandsaw tires when I was offered one for free a few years ago. previous owner became disgusted with it because the blade wouldn’t stay on. I never heard of bandsaw tires either, but YouTUbe educated me

Belt for a FDR1660 finish mower

I have that same mower, it does best on 8 inch grass or shorter. it is not designed to cut hay. If you can get a rotary mower, it will do much better on such high grass, after the initial cut, try not to let the grass get so tall.

    Horse bridge for trail class

Many years ago. I was trail riding with a really mellow horse I had ridden for years. About a mile into the ride, Chief spotted a flattened faded milk carton On the trail. In his eyes, that thing must have looked like a horse eating dragon. After trying hard to reassure him, I finally admitted...

4020 fix it or forget it?

John Deere parts are pricy probably no used parts available locally your needs seem to be more in the 40 hp range , with maneuverability a plus. you Are going to need a FEL, preferably with a grapple If I was in the same situation, I would look for a used unit in good condition.

    Caroni tm1900 gear box burps

I have that same mower, which I bought new, and it does the same thing. It doesn’t bother me, but I routinely check fluid levels on everything I use, as it prevents catastrophe, and saves expense and downtime. I really haven’t noticed any big need to add gear oil over the summer months...

Anyone use the Victor ultrasonic pest control

I have a car parked in the garage, that seems to be a magnet for mice. After trying traps, poison, pepperment and other essential oils, I tried the ultrasound device. It had no effect on the mice.

    Shop Furniture

I started wearing eye protection in the shop about 4 years ago, when cataract surgery made regular eyeglasses unnecessary. It was weird having no protection from flying objects, especially working underneath cars and tractors. Now it’s a habit, I hate going to get something removed from my...

    Is it used

12 hours on a new tractor would irritate me for about 5 minutes, and then I would move on and deal with the next thing on today’s job list.

    What is Life Expectancy?

    Poison Ivy

This whole subject gives me the creeps. Bad juju. Birds spread seeds everywhere on my place, I have to hand dig them up, as I can’t spray herbicides due to wine grape intolerance. I have had some success with scrubbing skin with Dawn, like you want to lose a layer of skin, but usually get a...

Zero turn thoughts on common models

I have a 13 year old Exmark that has been a really good machine. I bought it new with the Kawasaki motor, which I highly recommend. I am still running on the original spindles, which are not greasable, which kind of surprises me, as I use the mower more than the average owner probably does...

    Hesitant about the brand

The more I read, the more I think you should stick with John Deere or maybe Kubota. There is risk involved in buying a So. Korean made tractor, and they definitely have their pluses and minuses. I kind of think you would be happier with a sure bet. I have both a JD, and an LS, both tier 3...

55 gallon barrel fuel station questions

I first considered a 55 gallon barrel when I decided 5 gal cans were for the birds. I decided against them because the fuel co. Had a minimum amount for home delivery, and one drum didn’t qualify. They also were a pain to offload, and I had visions of losing one off my flat bed trailer, and...

    Andrew Camarata

I doubt that resale value ever comes to Andrew’s mind. I also doubt he ever resells much of his equipment when it’s no longer useful. For some reason I am addicted to his channel, but could never bring myself to copy his repair techniques. Say what you will, but I don’t think there is any way...
