    DPF

Yes and no. If you are running an implement at 2k RPM across a field you won't notice. If you are doing loader work with variable RPM you will notice because you'll have to get and keep the RPM up during regen.

    3910 recovery after sitting

Thanks. Front bearings. Very likely right there and hadn't considered that. Trans oil, yep as it surely has water in it.

    3910 recovery after sitting

The land I'm on came with a neglected 3910 that had been used sparingly to mow for the last 10 years and unmaintained. The only maintenance was checking the oil and coolant, likely for the last 20+ years given the exterior fading of the filters. I want to get it to the point where it is a...

    3D printed brake disc???

I would not expect a 3d printed disc to have the shear strength to work as a brake. The printed fibers are so short they don't grip the same as long fiber laid articles.

Share Pics of People Hauling or Towing Something Wrong

You are probably right but... "No sir there is no hazmat stored in this building." and "That trailer is not road ready, it does not need any placard."

    PTO Chippers

Feeding separated from cutting allows control the intake speed for thicker stuff, reverse if it gets plugged or catches on clothing. Thats the only option I considered.

    Tesla big rig fire

If you can get enough cooling on the pack the cell burning will burn out eventually and the neighboring ones won't catch. (We're saying the same thing) The trouble is getting enough water/foam inside the sealed armored battery case to make this happen, spraying the outside won't do it...

    Tesla big rig fire

That is a thing with EV fires. The batteries are sealed and armored enough that getting water on them is problematic. Car fires are common and EVs are harder to put out. It will likely change as procedures evolve but right now 'let it burn' is a valid response.

Shop lift, but not for vehicles.

Is your roof strong enough to bolt on a chain hoist?

How to straighten bent trailer tongue?

Did it also bend at the trailer attachment points? Enough to weaken there too? Personally I'd not try to fix that material but if I wanted to I'd look for some trees space so I could put the trailer and hitch ends of the beam against and go at it with a winch as you describe. I'd use angle...

What is the function of the spring inside a spark plug

Probably. Napkin math with 200psi acting on a 1/8" dia electrode only generates 3 pounds.

    Aluminum car trailer vs steel

Each row is referring to what metal will corrode first when in contact. Take the first row. Magnesium will corrode first when in contact with pretty much everything except itself. Now go down to Aluminum. It will corrode before everything except Zinc and Magnesium. Now down to steel, it'll...

DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone questions

Part of that is that there doesn't have to be anything nefarious in there right now but it could be added after the fact. You have it on wifi right? It updates for whatever reason, security update, whatever and now it does phone home. More an issue with telcom equipment than drones but same...

New Toyota Tundra’s Recalled for Spun Crank Bearing

Details on that one are debatable regarding whether it is a bad thing unless you are a stickler for the exact rules. They used data from development testing that passed to higher levels than required instead of repeating tests. That one I don't hold against them. Selling driver data collected...

    Anorher lithium battery fire

A couple months back we came close to a fire charging lead-acid batteries in a vehicle. Bad charger cooked em. Any time moving energy around there is a risk, lithiums just have more energy in them.

How many Amps to charge an EV?

I recently went through the same thinking and just went with 50A figuring that'd be enough to charge anything overnight. I'd probably not be looking for a super fast charge at home. 50A is also usable for the welder. The charge ports are currently toward the back but thats easily changed by model.

Solar + Batteries = refrigerator use????

500W @ 40% duty cycle = 0.2kwh (Assume day/night and a little cloud. You can probably get the real annual PV duty cycle for your location.) 1A @ 120V = 0.12kwh (not sure on the duty cycle of the fridge, assumed 100% and this seems low, small fridge?) Estimate 40 amp hours in each 12V battery =...

Looking for ideas and experience with Video Security Cameras on the Farm

Just keep in mind that ethernet is only rated for 100m lengths without a repeater. When burying cable for outbuildings and a starlink pole I put it in the same trench as power and used shielded outdoor cable.

What is the fastest way to burn a pile of logs?

Some kind of blower to get good airflow and alot of time. If you're really limited to 4'x4' or anywhere near that its going to take forever. Just 1 tree cut into sections and packed tightly will exceed that. Can you rent a really big chipper instead?

Mahindra eMax25L HST blows fuses when starting

Something you can do to at least save on fuses while debugging is to check continuity from the fuse terminal to GND. With a 40A fuse that impedance should be above 500 0.3 ohms. That can also tell if it is a perpetual short or one that happens during the starting process. (Though it appears...

    Help, scammers attacking my email

To reset passwords on places using email reset like that they need to be able to read your email so start with changing that password. It could just be someone messing with you sending a ton of reset spam, it could be a legit attack, no real way to know. Changing email password is easy enough...

Want to buy a sawmill - Talk me out of it!

You are planning to use this for a home addition, how do you plan on drying and curing the wood or boards? Green wood shrinks alot and may be infested. My father had a mill and used it a ton. Much of the pine he built with has beetles and the oak paneling shrank leaving nasty gaps.

Mow or spray to keep brush out of CRP fields?

Cannot offer any advice on what is more efficient but if the goal of the CRP program is wildlife habitat I'd go with mowing over herbicides.

    Portable Jump Starter

They do work to jump full large vehicles assuming you don't have to crank for minutes. Unfortunately I cannot offer brand advice as it wasn't mine when I saw it used. Guy was a diesel mechanic and said it'd start a semi, started my 3910 just fine. Hopefully someone else can offer advice to...

What would you do about this issue?

I would leave it be. Yes the roots have compromised the retaining wall but at the same time they are holding back the soil. As long as the trees and roots stay alive it should be okay. Once those are gone the wall will have to be replaced to keep the dirt back.

Question on deck build sitting on ground

I'd just lose those stairs, they look too steep to keep and you don't seem to have another place for them. In addition they eat alot of deck space below. You talk about a fire exit, good thinking but may I present another possibility of foster children sneaking out the deck entrance?

    Cordless Framing Nailer

I got one when I put together a deck last year. Everything ended up with screws because as Eddie said they hold better. What the nailer did very well was tack boards in place for the screws. For me at least putting in a long deck screw takes two hands to get started. The finish nailer OTOH...
