    Tractor News Viable Electric Tractor?

China is leading the world in EV adoption. At least 10%, and it may be higher, of the car sold in China are all EV with many more being Hybrids. They have taken their air pollution problems in the big cities to heart and have set their car manufacturers to making more EV available. Their tax...

    Tractor News Viable Electric Tractor?

Let's work backwards: You said, "with fast chargers, the electrics will be able to run 24x7 with less downtime than it take to fuel a diesel." How does one dump 75 to 150 kilowatts into a battery pack in less then five or ten minutes? What power source is on your farm that can do that...

    Glow Plugs

That seems to be a reasonable number.. under load, you would be pulling about 20 amps through the plug. So why aren't ya is the question! If the power bus is getting voltage when the glow plug is switched on, and the resistance is there, then the only thing left is the ground. The block...

    Glow Plugs

To troubleshoot, you are going to have to take them out like Roadworthy suggested... I find it hard to believe they all have gone bad... but, they may have. No current would indicate they open.. not heating at all.

    glow plugs

Could... not familiar with your tractor. Is there a self timing circuit for how long the glow plugs remain on? If so, a relay would be involved for sure. Have you checked: Voltage at the glow plugs? Glow plug resistance?

    Glow Plugs

So you have voltage to all three? You are assuming the voltage on the bus bar is connecting to the glow plugs? Shouldn't you verify that? Did you measure each glow plugs resistance? Do you see a resistance on your meter.. probably takes a pretty good meter as these will be relatively low...

John Deere rep going to take tractor

I'm not here to prove anyone wrong but rather to share what I know running a business that makes diagnostic tools for VAG cars. There is no longer a PIN code for VAG cars. They challenge/response system and a rolling code. The dealer cannot provide you as the owner with anything that would...

John Deere rep going to take tractor

Unfortunately, the Right to Repair Act for autos did not go far enough. It did not cover the vehicle data in the control modules of the cars. There is a fight brewing over who owns the data. The OE says, "We wrote the code and designed the system, the data is ours." The customer who owns...

Leaving Implements Raised - Bad For Hydraulic System?

From use, the cylinders will fail - likely the seals. Don't have any idea how long that may take. Connections and hoses will likely fail with age. Oxidation eats away at everything. Nothing lasts forever. Again, no idea of how long... I walk our machine every time I use it and look for...

    Good morning!!!!

I worked weekends in high school pumping gas for a full service Atlantic/Arco station in Dresher, PA. I worked the summer of '73 when the prices started at $0.25/gal and by the time I started commuting to college everyday, had jumped to $1/gal. The gas station operators had revolted over the...

Leaving Implements Raised - Bad For Hydraulic System?

I have the same situations. When working trails, I am up and down/on and off the tractor. For safety reasons, I choose to drop the implements to the ground in part because I am working hills. Usually when i get off the machine, unless its a jump off, do a short thing, then back up, i shut her...

    Big Barn’s Retirement Farm Shop

We built a new 1200 sq ft barn/shed for our equipment this summer. We put in (6) 100 Watt LED lamps mounted 12 foot high. It is so bright in that building that when you come out at night to walk up to the house, it takes your eyes several minutes to adjust to the dark outside. I have yet to...

Why do we like trails so much?

I find it addictive also. I love being out and on the mountain. Love being in the quiet of the woods. In part that is why we want the trails - go out and get deep into the woods to sit and watch. We tried flagging tape.. didn't work for us either. So then the idea of the snow sticks came...

Why do we like trails so much?

We did find that newer phones did better in our part of the world. We started out 5-6 years ago and tech then was jumpy. It has gotten much better with more recent phones. I recently upgraded to a Google Pixel 4a for $349. That phone seems rock steady. My old Samsung S5 - not so much. This...

Why do we like trails so much?

On the mapping, we get off the phones after syncing to the PC application. Most of the editing is done on a PC. Data collecting is done on the phones. We are mostly cutting flush on the stumps except for the really small stuff. We take those out when we can. We still do not have the stump...

Why do we like trails so much?

It does. We make the trails by looking at topo background maps. Then we walk the proposed path using the locator trace function in Hunt stand. This uses the GPS to trace where we have been. Mind, at times the GPS jumps around and it is helpful to have more than one person doing the tracing...

Why do we like trails so much?

On 200 acres, we have built trails and are adding more. In the map, Orange are established trails, Blue are trails planned, yellow are trails that are being built - where bright yellow represent walking trails and dull mustard yellow are started trails. Brown lines represent different...

Operating tractor in 4wd all the time?

The property we manage is all hill. I keep the machine in 4WD because I have slid downhill... and the seat pucker is a bit much. I have been fortunate that I have been able to get the machine under control without damage and without injury to this old man. The only place it goes in 2WD is...

Please show me your tractor chain storage solutions.

We didn't see this thread until after we came up with our solution for carrying our chains. What we like about this idea, is that the containers are within the tractor foot print, the whole assembly can be lifted off the tractor should there be a need to do so, and we used the ROPS bar to hold...
