Follow the positive cable from the battery. You bolted the other end to the solenoid when you replaced it.

This was my first thought also. HOWEVER- you need to make darned sure the transmission is in neutral. I know that's obvious, so just a reminder. This certainly sounds like the starter isn't getting the message to do it's job.

Not a cat but both of my dogs had the procedure... my last one had to have both knees rebuilt after hanging himself by the hind legs. They each recovered well and continued to go with me for 12 & 5 years, although eventually developing arthritis.

The one I believe he was referring to happened when they tried to snap it out, rather than use a winch. There were a myriad of youtube videos in response to that. I have always preferred to winch rather than try to pull somebody out- you are a lot less apt to get hurt or to break something.

I once had to hang a fly tape in my pickup, after leaving my window open while feeding the pigs.

I had my winch on, both times that I got badly stuck. Both times it was useless. The second time it was part of the problem as it was dragging on the ground. I had to drop it and drag it out of the way with my ATV winch before I could back out, pushing with the bucket at the same time.

At least that lesson was more embarrassing than it was painful. I'm glad that I've never done anything like that. I'm even more thankful that when TBN format changed a few years ago it destroyed any evidence, including pictures, of my tractor being stuck in the mud for 2 weeks. :eek:
