2016 Hay season started for me.

TX Jim, Thank you for the heads up. After going out and looking it made perfect sense what you were saying. I had my wife rotate them. Now I'm going to go out and turn the hay. And my wife said to double check her work.:)

    Raising a barn

My son and I have finished the Cupola. Now that's it's done I wish I would have gone with a 6/12 pitch instead of the 4/12 pitch (cupola only), but it still looks good I think. The work bench is next but will have to wait until the hay is cut and stacked in the barn.

Looks great powerscol, I think I'll be cutting in the next two weeks. The oats are just starting to seed out. The rain we have been getting combined with fertilizer has made my field look better than it has for the last 20 years. I'm looking forward to cutting. Not the best picture to see the...

    Building our retirement home

My wife does not like the cold either. This is more her style, so we'll throw this mountain in too and call it a deal.:) Man they are moving quick on your home----framing before ya know it. Like the rolls in the background of the middle picture.

    The Woodshed....

Here is a picture of where I stored my wood up until a couple weeks ago. It was a pig pen that I turned into wood storage. I have taken this shed down and am planning to build a 45x72 barn starting in September. It will have an awning on the east side 14x72. That should give me enough room to...

Looking at a new Kioti, suggestions

Having used mine now for digging up my leach line (with the FEL), cutting, baling hay and general work around the place I am very happy with it and still look for things to do just so I can operate it. When I started looking, it was for a Mahindra, then New Holland. Then I came across the...

    2015 Hay Season

As luck would have it, I was just offered the right to take care of the property right in front of my place. It's 6 acres and planted in alfalfa. Terms are; I keep the field looking good, I keep all the hay at no cost to me. They are an older couple that for the most part are not even home...

I am up to 66 hours. The only complaint is finding something that needs to be done so I can get more seat time.:D It needed a "regen" at 30 hours, no problem other than waiting for 10 minutes or so. I have done the 50 hour service with no problems. So far I am very happy with my choice.:)

How to keep the water out of my basement

Build the ground level up such that it funnels the water to one spot. (does not take that much) Then put a sump in with a float activated pump, then pump the water to the gutter.
