Sam, Actually, I am still considering using rafters/joists again... Building or buying trusses is likely to cost MORE than 16' posts, and in reality the problem I'm trying to solve is how to attach the headers to the posts, while maintaining the correct angles and ensuring the proper load...

Sam, Are you trying to pull my leg? I do not need a crane to lift trusses 9'... If my Kioti wont lift them higher than that, I can tip them on end and lever them up onto the headers by hand (maybe need a rope, maybe not...). Just 'cause I'm a n00b don't mean it ain't mean to pull tricks on...
