Not untypical...most folks on these forums show up occasionally. What are the ASCII codes used here?

whatever the 3-digit code is, put a zero before it ALT0227 ã I'd written on another thread; this only works with a keyboard that has a numbers pad. It will not work with the number keys above the alphabetical keys By the way, it also depends on what font is displayed. We're quite limited to...

I've had both R3 (Turf) and R4's (Industrial). I prefer the R3 type tire for snow. Most of the time, I don't even need 4WD...granted, I'm clearing level areas.

    What's wrong with Canadians?

Yeah, but the concept of a 24 hour, very repetitive, weather channel would be very boring...guess they had to spice it up. I watched it occasionally years ago before it got overly "dramatic".

    What's wrong with Canadians?

I blame most of this on The Weather Channel... They're the ones who started (stupidly, IMHO) naming snow events and sensationalizing the forecasts...all in the name of ratings. Pretty sure, but not positive, TWC also started this foolishness about "real feel" which is utter BS. The wind...

Good movies,,, well there are a few.......

If you're a fan of WW II movies, "The Man Who Never Was" is a really good flick base upon a true WW II incident. This is not an action packed shoot-em-up, but a compelling story of espionage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Who_Never_Was

I've seen small fires under some equipment to warm up the oil so the machine would start. Ether was used a lot too... This was Howard County, MD in the late 1960's I agree...too much "news" (not just the weather) is sensationalized way too much...and that ain't just Canada. One of my current...

Buying Advice Kubota, Mahindra, or JD Compact

Looks like Deere brought the old 790 (later it was designated 3005 for a couple years) back. Pretty close to the same specs...and transmission I had a 5" Landpride cutter behind a 790 for several years. It did fine, but expect to slow down in thicker brush

I've used the tractor's snow blower on the walks, before I got my first walk-behind (a real POS I bought used). Pretty much stuck with the EGO blower for the walks the last few years...but as crappy as it s today, maybe I'll just stay in the cab. Nothing's going to happen for a while...

I've always been a Deere guy, but before I bought my 4052, I gave serious consideration to a used Kioti. My neighbor has a CK2610 or CK3510...nice cab tractor. I wanted a bit more PTO HP, so I went with the Deere, plus the dealer is local (neighbor's tractor came from out of...

    Plow now or wait?

I don't normally use 4WD (MFWD, in Deere parlance) unless necessary, but I'm not working on any slopes. Also, turf tires work pretty good as snow tires That said, reckon 4WD will help using a front blade
  182. RoyJackson

    Cordless Snow blower recommendation?

I'll be glad when these are available locally. I had priced one online but backed off when I saw shipping costs were almost the same as the price of the blower and the Amazon options add $500+ to the prices. I reckon I'll have to wait a while and use what I have
  189. RoyJackson

    Plow now or wait?

That is a very treacherous situation... Although using 4WD on hard pavement isn't usually a good idea, I expect a snow or ice covered drive would provide enough slippage to minimize damage to the front axle. Plus, using 4WD does help in braking (just use a low enough gear to let the engine do...

    Plow now or wait?

My preference is to let the icy stuff accumulate atop the snow... I use a PTO driven snow blower for the drive and will easily handle deep snow That said, my walk-behind snow blower (not self-propelled) used for the walks won't do so well if we get the maximum forecast (12"-13"). I expect to get...
