what is the best way to mount inline flush face quick disconnects?

I am running hoses from a rear hydraulic kit to a FEL grapple. I want to solidly mount the quick disconnects on the FEL. They are flush face. A bracket like this would be great, but I haven't seen one for flush face conns: I have seen setups with a simple L bracket. It looks like the NPT...

Do you own the service manual for your tractor?

I am considering buying the service manual for my tractor. It's about $70 from greenfarmparts.com. It's a like to have, not a necessity. I'll never replace piston rings!! :yuck: But there are times I would like more information or procedures. :reading: I have exploded parts diagrams for the...

Need a torque multiplier to get to 425#

I have a Frontier RB5060 rotary cutter. The manual says I need a torque multiplier to get the torque on the swinging blade nuts up to 425#. I see one at Northern Tools for $220. That's a lot. Anyone know of a good source on this tool? I don't need more than the 425#. How much torque can I get...

water in my front axle -- what now?

I checked the front axle hydraulic fluid on my JD 3038E and found rust on the fill/dipstick treads and the fluid had turned creamy yellow (instead of normal hy-guard clear greenish). I will change the fluid, buy what should I do to diagnose the cause of this problem? The fill cap was tight, so...

Backhoe  is the such thing as a backhoe for a JDQA FEL?

I see those backhoes that mount on a skidsteer (why don't they call it a FRONT-hoe?), but I have not been able to find one that directly fits a JDQA interface. Does such a thing exist. I would have to buy the adapter to use the skidsteer mount. Thanks in advance.

Does any vendor make a locking fuel cap for a JD 3038E?

I haven't been able to find a locking cap for a JD 3038E. I find caps for larger JDs but not 1000 - 4000 series.

    Grapple  lightweight grapple buying decision

I am choosing a grapple for my JD 3038E w/305 loader. The loader doesn't lift a ton, so light weight is a primary criterion. I will use it mostly for brush. It Also will be used with logs and a little for landscape rock (nothing too big). Some other selling points that I am looking for include...

Tiller  Should I mount a coulter using shear bolts?

I bought a used 3 point Priefert bottom plow. I have ground with some blackberry roots, so I also bought a separate used coulter. The plow's moldboard is about 14" So I bought a coulter of 14" diameter with scalloped edges. The coulter came with a mounting bracket, but I need two 1/2" bolts...

    Wilco brand 3 point sprayer

Wilco farm stores from the Northwest has a 60 gallon 12V 3 point sprayer with boom on sale for $479 during February. That seems like a fair deal. Wilco is not a manufacturer, so it's undoubtedly an OEM sprayer. I'm not sure I'l be able to get parts for it. Any thoughts on buying a house brand...

    hydraulics 101

I'm working on my first hydraulics project ever: adding rear hydraulics kit and a grapple to my JD 3038E. I've been looking for basic primer information on hydraulics systems and theory. I heard the JD service series manual is good, but it's about $60 new. So I found the Vickers Industrial...

was I supposed to use thread sealant?

I bought the rear hydraulics kit from JD for my 3038E. Progress is slow because of weather and I lost a rear tire. I have followed the instructions to a "T" so far, and they seem pretty good. I have installed the controls/valve but not yet installed the lines to the tractor hydraulics yet. I...

bead popped and Rim Guard lost while parked during cold spell

I lost all my Rim Guard in a rear R4 15-19.5. It's been cold a couple nights. Not that cold by US standards -- maybe a low of 25 degrees F. There doesn't appear to be any trauma to the tire -- it just popped a bead in the cold. I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything to cause this failure, so it's...

what kind of hydraulic vacuum do I need to prevent leakage during install?

I am installing a rear hydraulic kit on a JD 3038E. The instructions say to put: ... vacuum to transmission fill (during installation) to prevent leakage and oil loss. I can see how pulling a vacuum on the fill will prevent leakage. My question is, what does this look like and where do I get...

    grapple for JD 305 FEL

I'm a real noob, and I need help with what grapple to buy for a 305 FEL on a JD 3038E. I have the JD rear hydraulics on order, so I'm covered there. I'd rather get a single cylinder because I'm not sure how I'd handle two and I want a smaller grapple like a 48" I think the interface is a John...

nearly sheared my 3038E battery cable

Running over some slash, I nearly sheared the positive battery cable that runs under the chassis near the front of my 3038E. I'm new to tractoring and apparently need to be more careful. Maintainability is one of the main reasons I bought a Deere; it's nice to know parts are readily available...

    adding hydraulics/grapple to a JD 3038E

I am a first-time tractor owner with a JD 3038E. I would like to add attachments that require hydraulics. I have no experience with hydraulics, so I would like to start with the JD rear hydraulics kit because it's designed to fit my tractor without any hassles or hydraulics design knowledge on...
