Looks like the last of the legendary Toro Wheel Horse Classic models is gone for 2009. Just from the looks, I'm guessing all of Toro's LGT's are now red painted Cub Cadet clones. Those were great GT's that will be missed by many.

It isn't even Thanksgiving yet and I've been able to put the Ariens 624 through 4 pretty good workouts here in Erie already. Overall, I have to say this is an excellent snow blower, I am very satisfied with its initial performance.
The 6 HP Tecumseh Snow King engine starts easily with 4 pushes...
I have been looking for a decent mid-sized snowblower, 5-7 HP, 26-28" width. I live in Erie, PA so It has to be something that will work. I've looked at everything used that is remotely close to where I live, and they have all been either REAL junky (ill maintained) or "like new" with "like...
One of the most popular used garden tractors on the market is John Deere's 318. I constantly see these fetch around $2000-2500 or more on E-Bay and in local papers, despite many of them being 20+ years old. They are awesome tractors.
But... little realized is the 318's secret little...
I'm just making a lawn and garden tractor trivia game to post in the near future. Yamaha made some lawn tractors in the late 1980's and early 1990's, though they did not sell well and they did not make them for long. The question I have is did these use an engine made by Yamaha or was it from...
(reposted from l&g forum- I think there was a thread similar to this here a few months ago but I can't find it or remember the fix??)
Hi all. I spend most of my time with the bigger tractors, but my CC 1440 won't start. Battery is good, voltage is getting to the starter, but it only groans and...
For those who like old Cubs and Cub Cadets and other old tractors, engines, and equipment, gas and steam alike, the 40th annual rally in Alexander, NY is a blast:

It is September 7-10 this year.

This goes along with the collection thread- List your favorite lawn and garden tractors and the ones you admired the most, or favorite pieces of any type of yard equipment.. Here is my list:
1. Late 70's to mid 80's John Deere 200, 300, and 400 series tractors. Owned 214. I feel these were...
A family friend is planning to move to my neck of the woods and has made an offer on a house with about 10 acres of land. Their thought is they would like to purchase a compact tractor for all the yard work such as a CC 5000 series. The land is flat, and there is a wooden storage shed the...
Real reason why ZTR\'s are big sellers now??
This comes right from the top, copied from Lawn and Garden pages of, "Hometown Neighbors," magazine courtesy of ARA:
"So why all the fuss (about ZTR's)? Of course there is the tremendous time savings. But beyond the labor savings, there's another...
I have just been a victim of the pressed in zerk grease fittings I have heard others here complain about. When I replaced the components into my new 44" deck housing, I was able to re-use one of the three old spindles as it had been replaced only a few seasons earlier and showed no wear- it...
I don't think I have ever posted a picture of my completed Honda GX powered CC 682 here at TBN. If I have, just ignore it Anyway, its ready to eat up the dandilions

Using the early 1980’s as an example, even in the days of the tank built IH Cub Cadet garden tractors of that time such as the 482-982 which can last nearly forever and you still see all over the place, IH had the lawn tractor line of lightweight 182-382 vertical engine cheapies, which are...
Just reading another tractor forum, ands what they said looks to be true, that MTD is now making John Deere's "100" line of residential lawn tractors for them, and they look about nearly identical to the 1000 series Cub LT's. The only spec difference looks to be use of Briggs and Stratton power...
I removed the mule drive and all the sheetmetal from my CC 682 tractor to be painted. My question is on the front pulley part of the mule drive there are 3 sets of holes where the long part of the mule frame that goes over the deck can bolt to. I did not pay close attention when I took it...
I am looking to replace the original tired Kohler KT17 twin in my CC682, it is losing compression. The only drop in replacement for this tractor from Kohler is the KT17 Series II, which is over $2000. (Shoot, I can get an engine for my CAR cheaper than that LOL) The only improvement I see SII...
