    Glow plug thermostat?

It hasn't been below 40 degrees since I bought my B7800 last spring. I have never seen the glow plug indicator light all summer. Is there a thermostat in the glow plug heaters with a minimum temp before they turn on, or should I be looking at other electrical things, including a bad light bulb?

    Overfilled transmission- 7800HST

I recently purchased a used 7800HST to replace my DOA Yanmar. While checking fluids, I noticed the hydraulic/tranny fluid is maybe an inch above the full mark on the dipstick. Darn hard to see until I sprayed the stick with some flat black. Should I drain the excess out, or is there no harm...

How can you tell if hydraulic pump is starving?

I'm in a real bind right now, needing the loader on my 2500 to clear many feet of snow off of our road. The last day or two the loader has been operating ridiculously slow between dig and dump extremes. I have changed the hydraulic fluid and cleaned the mesh filter in gas, with little or no...

    Improved Yanmar air intake

It's dusty around here! And I use my YM2500 for grading the road, which is even dustier work. I got tired of replacing air filters every 25 hours, so I made up an improved intake. It uses a washable oiled AFE air filter that's 5" high, 3" in diameter and has a 2" flange. The connecting pipe is a...

    I found a good oil...

At a Harley dealer- LOL. I've got a somewhat tired YM2500 that still runs well, doesn't use any oil. What was concerning me most is that when hot, oil pressure was dropping down to 15 PSI or less at 2,000 RPM. I had been using one of the 15W-40 name brands of diesel oil with a can of STP or...

Large swing in oil pressure- How come?

Here's one I don't completely understand...The oil pressure on my YM2500 runs about 50 to 60 PSI at 2,000 RPM when it's first started, then it drops down to around 25 PSI after fully warmed up when the coolant is running around 180 degrees. I use either Delvac or Rotella 15W-40 oil, the same...

    Oil cooler tip

I want to pass along that I recently installed a Perma-Cool #69189 universal oil cooler on my YM2500 and that it fits and works fine (with a minor modification). One benefit is that using the kit lets you use common oil filters with a standard Toyota/Ford 3/4" thread. I'm using the shorter...

    Cylinder sleeve removal?

Greetings to all, first time poster. I recently bought a YM2500 for a good price and because of excessive blowby and other issues, I'm planning to replace the rod bearings, rings and sleeves later this spring. Got a service manual on order but I do have a quick question to help me plan things-...
