I have a massey 240 , when you press the lift , it produces a "ka" sound as if it's trying to lift then stops. If you press to have lift to go down it does not respond there and there but will respond later slowly going down. Anyone ca assist on this?

I have a vaaljapie tractor which when i start it stops the moment i remove battery terminals. The battery needs some charging so i do push start. Is this problem caused by the battery . In the past i used to remove the terminals without engine stopping . What could the problem?
