Where to buy a ballast box

I need a ballast box for my MF GC2300. I don't want to build one - no welder and no metal either. Need to put about 300+ lbs. on the rear. What I had was plywood and it gave out after several years use. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

NorTrac 60" blower - any good?

I see a cheap blower at: NorTrac 3-Pt. Snow Thrower — 60in.W Intake, Fits Tractors with 25 to 40 HP, Model# BE-SBS60G | Snow Blowers| Northern Tool + Equipment Size will suit my needs well, as does the price - about $700 below local red/green/orange/blue dealers. Question is - is it any good or...

    Snow plow in the bucket

I use a Snow Wolf plow on my Tahoe. Nothing fancy, electric wench for up/down and a pull pin for angles. Has done a great job on a number of vehicles for 20 years. We average 200 inches a year here in upstate NY. Just for grins, I drove the bucket under the plow mount and it fit nicely. Ran a...

I am curious who the real build was of the GC2300 series of Massey Ferguson tractors. Anyone know?

    Parts direct from the facory?

Is there a means or contact for purchasing parts directly from AGCO for the Massey Ferguson tractors? I have a GC2300 with FEL, etc. My dealer never has anything in stock that I need. Didn't even have the correct fuel bowl o-ring in stock. The only items he ever has in stock are fluids, pins...

Front-End Loader  Trimming the hedge with the FEL

I have a 6 foot tall hedge that requires trimming several times a season. It is a pain to trim. I have used ladders, milk crates, etc. All of it still is tough. Today I used my FEL to trim with. First I fastened an 8 foot 2x4 to the top edge of the bucket with a pair of C-clamps. You do not...

    HST pedal preference

I have a 2300 and one of the deciding factors was the single treadle for forward and reverse. Great for loader work - in my opinion. Any idea why Massey went with the dual pedals on the new 2600 series? Maybe I am missing something, but I just do not see the advantage.

    Electric tractor

I have been reading up on the subject of electric cars - the kind you do the converison work on yourself. All this got me thinking about doind a conversion on a tractor. For short jobs - which most of mine are - I think there might be some fire amongst the smoke and mirrors of the battery...

    Great customer service

The other day I was working in the woods when a small tree limb whipped across the hood of the tractor - breaking my two week old TiltMeter. I contacted R&B Manufacturing about getting a new bubble tube for it. They said it wasn't needed, as they would send me a complete new unit. The...

Wider wheel base for the sCuts

I always liked the 8N Fords and similar for their very wide rear wheel base. Nearly impossible to tip over. The sCuts, such as my MF 2300, do not have this nice width. I remember back when VW dune buggies were all the rage. One of the things we used to do to them was widden the rear wheel base...

Oil & Fuel  Oil filter size

I have a GC2300 and the IZEKI oil filter part number is 6213-240-002-1. My dealer said the little filter is a replacement for what came on it. Diameter is right - but it sure is small (short). Anyone else experience this? Of course they didn't have the hydraulic filter in stock, so that will...

    Box Scraper  Box blade instructions

Could someone kindly explain the use of a box blade? I saw one at the TSC Store today at a low price (only 4' wide, but I run a sCut). The mgr said he will take less, as it is a hanger queen taking up space. It has blades extending down from it. Is this what I would drag around parts of the...

    PHD recommendation

I have a GC2300 and am thinking about a PHD. Any recommendations? It will not see hard use - so does not have to be the heaviest ever built. I do need 9" at 48" depth. Can the tractor handle this?

    Gathering Dust

I bought a new GC2300 late in the summer and quickly put over 30 hours on it. Then came the rains - and more rain - and more rain. It has now been three weeks since I have had the tractor out of the garage and off the pavement. I have to cross some of the lawn to get down in back. I walked...

    Tiller  Other tiller uses

I have a 4' Massey Ferguson tiller that does a fine job in the garden and for creating planting beds. I am thinking about using the tiller as my road finisher in and around the woods. I typically use the FEL for brush and small tree removal when cutting in a woods road. Usually the road will...

    Quick hitches and similar

I have been looking at the iMatch and Pat's. I see how Pat's works - you back up with the hooks under the pins and raise the hitch until they lock in. Then you get off the tractor and hook up the top bar and the PTO. I see that the bottom of the iMatch works the same. But, where does the hook...

    Cutting a PTO shaft

I have a GC2300 and a Massey Ferguson 4' tiller - has the clutch safety feature. When I got it from the dealer it was all set up and ready to use. So I have been using it. The other day I needed to take it off - what a battle that was. The PRO shaft is too long. That being fun, putting it back...

    Post the prices

I enjoy reading all the posts about the new toys, err ahhh ahemmm - tools, that everyone buys for their tractors. Some I considered and have looked into. Simple solution that saves dollars

We just bought a Massey Ferguson GC2300 with FEL and a tiller. There is a post hole digger in the future also. But, after some deliberation, I doubt if there will be a MMM or rear finish mower. We are rather wet where we live and it is quite easy to make tracks on the lawn much of the time. The...

    5-gallon yellow fuel cans

I went to the Tractor Supply store today and bought one of those nice yellow 5-gallon fuel cans. Got a few other odds and ends in the hardware line also. Dirt mining in the woods

Last week I had a talk with the extention office master gardner about bringing out dirt from the woods for my garden. She thought it would be a great idea, but way too much work for a 40x60 garden. Today I started doing just that - using my new tractor with an FEL and tiller. That dirt looks...

    Glad I bought a tractor

Took delivery of a new Massey Ferguson GC2300 with an FEL and a 4' tiller yesterday morning. Got to know it a little yesterday and worked about four hours with it today. My one single comment is, "I should have bought a tractor long before now!" The wife wanted a bed of iris removed from the...

    Bought a new GC2300

Today is my first day of retirement and I bought myself a present - of course my wife had input for this also. Tiller  Land Pride reverse turning tiller

    MMM ground clearance

On the GC2300 is there sufficient ground clearance with the MMM to allow use of the FEL? If not, what is the real world of removing the mower like (I do have a paved surface)? I think the wife will like the MMM better than a 3-point - just have to cut some more branches off the trees to keep...

    Easily removable Tooth bar

Some place I saw mention of a tooth bar that was placed over the bucket edge and held in place with compression (large Allen screws?)- not through the bucket bolts. Mowing  Using a Rear Finishing Mower

    Farm Star products question

I have seen mention of KK implements and found them at the Tractor Supply store. I have seen mention of Farm Star, but can't actually find who carries them. Tooth bar on sub-cut FEL -good or bad?

Would a tooth bar be worthwhile on a sub-cut FEL? Or am I just asking the little guy to do too much? I don't have a BH - can't justify it. The work planned is some bull brush removal. Not a large amount, just road width and a hundred feet long, cleaning out some under growth in the woods, and...

    Slam stop reverse Kubota question

I have tried a couple of the Kubota BX24s and BX 2350s. They all seem to have a nasty hard stop when you release the reverse heel pedal. What has been the experience with this? Does the problem go away after some use? Can it be adjusted away? This is the only holding me from going "orange."

    Unresponsive dealers

Yesterday I sent detailed emails to two local dealers - one Kubota and the other Massey Ferguson. I specifically stated I wanted their best price, as I plan to...

    JD and Yanmar question

A couple of days ago I had a Kobuta dealer tell me that JD is having problems getting Yanmar engine parts. He said this is due to an argument between Yanmar and JD. Any truth to this - or is it a lousy method of selling an orange tractor? I was already to write a check for the BX24 - but...
