    Snow  Engine heater YM1700

So I've made a front snow plough, but now turning my attention to some form of engine pre-heat. It was a bit of a pig last winter, although the TS would get it going. The engine doesn't seem to have any accessible core plugs, and the bottom radiator hose is a bit tight to get a heater in, plus...

Oil & Fuel  Trans oil qty, YM1700

After my problems last winter with the 3pt lift, where the pump would squeel and no lift, I'm going to sort it now. The suggestion was water in the trans at the bottom, and/or blocked filter. So I undid the drain plug a little over a pot, but only got a spoonful of water out before the oil ran...

Snow  Adding extra lights - YM1700

Just thinking ahead to the snow clearing duties. I'm making a snow blade for the 3 point, so will need some extra lighting looking backwards. Is the alternator/generator man enough to run some worklights? I'm thinking one on each mudguard, but that's an extra 110W of electric needed. The...

    Snow  Tyre size and chains

I have a YM1700, and am looking for chains for the upcoming winter. I have the original jap tyres with the big cleats - size 8.4/8 - 24. I spoke to a supplier, and they have chains for tyre size 8.3/8 - 24. So my question is, what do the numbers mean (obviously the 24 is the rim diameter), and...

    3pt problems when cold

When it gets to well below freezing, the 3 pt won't come up. It will drop ok, but when pulling up the lever, the pump shrieks (and the arms won't move), or the arms will jump up a little at a time. Any ideas?

    Antifreeze %

In the piece about cleaning the radiator, it says not to use more than 25% antifreeze as it can affect the movement of the cooling water on tractors without a water pump. But what happens if I need greater than 25% because of the winter temperature outside?

    YM1700 Air Filter

Hi Guys, new man here from England. I just got this tractor, and the air filter is a pancake type (at least that's what we call it over here). It's a flat round one that sits on top of the engine, about 8" across and 1.5" high. Is this type re-useable (washable)?
