Woods RD 7200 on a Ford NAA

Has anyone used a Woods RD 7200 with a 1954 Ford NAA? To hook them together, I had to point the pins towards each other because the lift arms do not spread far enough otherwise. Because of that, I can't figure out how to attach stabilizer bars. Is there something weird about the NAA that makes...

    Parts for Woods Mowers?

I recently bought a new-to-me Woods RD 7200. I love the cut! However, where do you go for parts? There web site seems to have a lot of dead links? Regards

Woods RD 7200 on Ford NAA?

I bought a used Woods RD 7200 finish mower to replace my old KingKutter 72" finish mower. In attaching the Woods to my 1954 Ford NAA tractor, I found that the hitch pins on the Woods are 3 inches farther apart than on the KingKutter. Result: The anti-sway chains were too short and my old...

Advice on 6' mower to replace King Kutter

My 25 yo KingKutter 6' 3pt hitch finish mower is getting old. I'd like to replace it with a similar unit. I mow about 12 acres with it, mostly lawn-like, but it does get a bit tall at times. Looking at review, it seems like the CountyLine stuff is quite light duty. A 4-wheel deck is probably...

    JD316 Onan Engine Seized

I have a ~25 year-old JD316 Garden tractor with the Onan 2-cyl engine and about 700 hours on it.. I tried to start it recently, and it cranked for a bit and then stopped. After trying various things, I tried to turn the flywheel by hand and it is stuck. It won't turn either direction. Yes, I...

    NAA Governor Compensating spring

In looking for a new battery box for my NAA, I see references to a "governor compensating spring" that connects to the bottom of the battery box. My tractor has not had one in the 10 years that I have owned it. What does it do? Would not having it affect performance? Should I get and install...

    NAA Instrument Panel Removal

I am replacing the radiator on an NAA and want to prime and paint the inside of the sheet metal while I have it off. There is piece of sheet metal below the instrument panel that I want to remove. From the photo, you can see the rod poking out through the side. Both sides are the same. The...

    Ford NAA Radiator Replacement

So I got a new radiator for my 1954 NAA. Today, I worked on getting the sheet metal off. Nightmare! There are several bolts and screws that go into captive nuts. With few exceptions, the captive nuts rotate in their cages when I turn the screws. Yes, I used PB Blaster. I keep finding more...

    NAA Rear Axle Seals

My Ford NAA needs rear axle seals, a job I've never done. My questions are: 1. I am reasonably comfortable with tools. Can I replace the seals without getting into serious trouble? 2. Do I need any special tools for removal/replacement? I have the NAA repair manual, and it recommends certain...

    Source for Good Quality Radiator?

I need a radiator for my Ford NAA. I see them on the web for a range from about $150 to $300. How do I avoid getting a poor quality replacement without overspending?

    Tightening Rear wheel axle nuts

I have a 1954 NAA. The rear axle nuts have loosened over the years despite the retainer clips. The manual says to torque them to 400 ft-pounds. I imagine that the correct way to do that is to buy a ~$400 torque wrench or take it to the shop. Is there an adequate alternative? Unrelated to the...

    Electronic Ignition Fard NAA

I'd like to improve my "gas mileage" on my Ford NAA (6V,+ground). Would electronic ignition help? If so, what brand is worth the money? There seem to be some out there that replace the points, but that's all. Do they just eliminate point replacement, or do they improve performance. Best...

JD 316 46 inch deck Spindle Question

I was disassembling the deck to paint it. I had to cut the bolts holding the spindles on sice JD used carriage bolts that spun when I tried to remove the nuts. The center spindle/hub came off easily. There must be a trick to removing the other two. What is the trick? Thanks Ortis

    Ford NAA/8N Brake Drum

I've called a number of places looking for brake drums. A number of dealers list the drum on their web site, but when I contact them, they are sold out. Is there some reason that the NAA/8N drums wear more than others so that there is a huge demand? I assumed that mine are bad because a...

    NAA Brakes Locking?

I have a 1954 NAA. After it sits for a few day, when I try to move it forward, the right wheel is locked. If I back up and move forward one or a few times, then it works normally, and does for the rest of the day. I have cleaned the brakes on both sides and installed new springs. I adjusted...

    Front Tire Chains

When I use a rear blade to plow snow with my Kubota B2100HST (hydrostatic, FWD), I use chains on my rear tires, and 100 pounds of front weights. The front tires spin, providing less traction than they could and wearing the tires. There is insufficient clearance, IMHO, for chains on the front. Is...

How do you get at manifold bolts?

On my Cub and my NAA, the bolts/nuts attaching the combined intake/exhaust manifold are very hard to access. On the Cub, two bolts are easily reachable with a socket wrench. The others have part of the manifold directly infront of them so that I might get a socket on them, but no way to apply...

Ford NAA Smoking and Wheel Locking

My '54 NAA has been doing fine all summer. Last evening, I started it to do some mowing. It did not want to start, and that has never happened before. With the help of some ether, I got it going. It was billowing a large amount of bluish smoke out the tail pipe - also never happened before. I...

    B2100 with FWD/HST

My B2100 with hyrostatic four-wheel drive (FWD) keeps slipping into FWD. The lever s place in such a way that I believe that maybe my leg bumps it and nudges it into gear. And no, I don't have thunder thighs! I think having it in FWD unnecesarily is increasing front tire wear. Anyone else...

    International Cub won't start

I last ran it last fall and it worked fine. I tried to start it in January and no-go. The carb was flooding so I cleaned it an put in a new needle and seat. I checked the spark, which was weak, so I put in points, rotor, condenser, and cap. Still no go even with ether. I thought that I may have...

    NAA Oil Leak

My NAA drips a small quantity of engine oil - just enough to be annoying. I made a new gasket for the oil plug, and that helped some. I plan to replace the oil pan gasket, which should be pretty easy. Here's the question: I am wondering if I can replace the real seal (two-piece rope type)...

Advice on Lawn Tractor - Please

I hope this is the right forum for this question. A friend has a 3 acre yard, some of which is fairly rough since it was a field and not smoothed before being declared a lawn. She has a 44" Sears lawn tractor that is dying, and she is looking for a new/used machine with a somewhat wider deck...
