How do you check the oil level in the rear (hydrostat) transaxle ????? My model does NOT have the reservoir for the oil up by the battery. What grade of oil should I use?? Thank-you !!!!!

My neighbour has a LS35 gear drive lawnmower and he claims that after 20 minutes of cutting, the engine shuts down and won`t start until it cools down. It will crank but won`t start. It`s a single cylinder. Has anyone else had this problem or any ideas ?? Thanks TW20
