    Shaver stump grinders stumpbuster

I se 2 of these for sale locally by the same seller (used). An SC-25 and a SC-50. $2500 each. The sc-50 is old; 2-digit serial number from 20 years ago. The sc-25 is newer, maybe 10 years old. I have a LS U5030 with 48hp at the PTO, so I naturally gravitate toward the larger sc-50. My...

Can't grease roller bearing on Alamo flail.

O.K., I have a Alamo SH88 flail mower I bought at an equipment auction last year. The rear roller was a little stiff so I bought new bearings and housings (Flailmaster cat # M-703976). On one of them, I just cannot get any grease into it at all. With the bearing out, I can shoot it in there...

    Flail Mower Mott flail

Near as I can tell, the Ford scoop knives are the same width as the lighter Mott side slicer. So I don't think I need to move the mounting stations to overlap, unless I'm missing something.

    Flail Mower  Mott flail

O.K., I searched through the mega thread but didn't find what I was looking for. I just got a Mott "Hammer Knife Mower" 88". Not in the greatest shape, but it works. Missing some knives. It has the 2 "Almost an L" type blades that hang from a shackle. I have some Ford "duckfoot-T" blades for my...

Flail Mower  Ford 917H online manual?

Just grabbed this locally. Never had one, never used one. Is there a downloadable manual somewhere? How about a general flail mower use fact sheet?

    Fuel issue?

I *might* have found the problem. Last night I found a schematic online for the Zexel pump. It showed a screen at the inlet line. Pulled it this morning. It was pretty well clogged: almost to the point of not being able to see light through it. I blew it out with air (hold tighter next time so I...

    Fuel issue?

This is the pump. Zexel. This is a diagram of the fuel flow. The only filter I see is the main one. No screen in the tank. There is no fuel shut-off because the tank is lower than the filter and pump. I'm not at all familiar with injector pumps, so I don't know if there is an inlet screen or...

    Fuel issue?

My U5030 (310 hrs) has been running odd. Starts up no problem and runs fine for a while. When it gets warm, after a 1/2 hour or so, the rpm's are limited to about 1500-1700 or so. Won't rev beyond that. Let it sit for 20 minutes or so, and I can go back to 2000 (which is about where I run it for...

    u5030 hood won't pop open

Went to pop the hood to clean my air filter and it won't open. The release cable feels like its working, but the hood remains latched. Pretty frustrating, to say the least. Any ideas on how to get this thing open?

    PICTURES ONLY thread

Finally built a new bridge beefy enough to get my U5030 across. Cruised for the straightest hemlocks I had out back. 32 feet long. Planked with 3x8 hemlock.

    Skidding Winches

I had an old Fransgard. Worked well, but the cable was about done by the time I became it's owner. I snapped it maybe 5 times. There was never any "whip" to it: it just retracted maybe 6 feet and laid down. Good thing, because that old Fransgard never had a protection screen. I replaced it...

3-point log lift & skidder on small tractor

    Plumbing for a grapple

I'm kind of lucky with this model tractor as the remote levers are very close to the loader joystick: The Green one will be my control.

    Which 3pt log skidding winch?

What I like about it (without using it yet) is how high it lifts for skidding out: That's a full 2 feet of lift. My other one might have been 14" or so. Doesn't sound like much but that little bit makes the difference between butts scraping through the mud or riding high and dry.

    Which 3pt log skidding winch?

Winch got delivered the other day. Haven't got a chance to use it yet because the snow is about 3' deep in the woods, but I think I'm going to like it. Sorry for the blurry phone photo. Came with three chokers too! She replaces this old quill:

    Plumbing for a grapple

AG fittings have a ball on the end don't they? These are the male ends from my loader hookup: They are 3/8, but what are they called? I'd assume they's use the same all the way around, but maybe not.

    Plumbing for a grapple

Thinking about getting a grapple. Any reason not to use my up-to-now unused rear remotes? Hose and fittings from NAPA and some way to run the lines down the loader? I've got a spare 8' snowplow blade that I want to hook up also, so need hydro out the end for 2 things. Never used those rear...

First deer harvest of the season.

I don't know how I missed this thread. I got my deer just 5 minutes into a walk out to my game cam to change cards on opening day here in Maine. 206 lbs. He was a really healthy deer.

    3PTH stabilzer use

Here is a pic of the stabilizer The pin is in the hole to give it a rigid attachment, but a 1/4 turn would enable me to use the slot, which would give the ends of the lift arms maybe 4" of sway.

Good generic chain saw press or scabbard?

I made a simple plywood scabbard similar to deiselcrawler and mounted it vertically on the cage for my front forks. About as simple as it gets.

    3PTH stabilzer use

I've looked about everywhere for an answer to this (operator manuals for both tractor and bush hog) but haven't found much of anything. My tractor, U5030, has stabilizer arms for the 3PT hitch lift arms with holes that can be pined to make it rigid, and long slots to make it have limited motion...

    PICTURES ONLY thread

Hauled out a few cord yesterday for my neighbor. He just graduated high school and will be going to mechanic school this Fall. He's selling firewood to get some extra money, so I gave him a hand pulling out some trees. The only problem was I was the one hooking up the lines and he got to do...

Old Sears lawn tractor: what deck will fit?

    Counterweight "weight"

I have an opportunity to trade into a concrete counterweight. Owner says it's roughly 1200lbs. Is that too much or too little for a 55hp tractor?

    used G3033 price check

I just saw a used G3033 with FEL and backhoe for sale down the road from me. Told my buddy about and he's interested. The sign on it says it's a 2013 with 247 hrs, but it looks like it's had about 2000 on it. Rear tires (R1's) are all cut up on the tread lugs, front grill is all smashed up and...

    Chain Hooks On Bucket

I did it this way: Weld a 3/8" 2"x18" piece of steel in the middle to act as a strengthener. Then weld a couple of hooks to the outside of that. I wanted them nearer the middle. I'm thinking that lifting a heavy weight off to one side might tweak the loader arms.

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

My method of getting it down to the basement where the wood furnace is has just gotten easier: First, I got a new tractor. LS U5030. Then, after I got a set of pallet forks from Titan, I built a carrier out of a good pallet. I narrowed it down to 30" because my bulkhead stairs are 36" wide...

    PTO issue U5030

Was out this morning on the new U5030 and had a problem. I'm still playing around with all the features and pushing all the buttons. I have my logging winch on the back for a little ballast weight. I turned on the pto switch, it turned for about 5-10 seconds then stopped and the transmission oil...

Help me ID this logging winch

I recently bought this logging winch from a guy down the road. I'm at least the 3rd owner. Was wondering who made it. I did a google search and thought it looked like an old Fransgard, but another guy around here was familiar with it and said it was a Farmi. It's probably been painted and I...

    Decisions, decisions

I've now decided my next tractor will be a LS. The wife is even on board. I'm either getting the R4047 for $22250, or the U5030 for $27500. On all honesty, I know the 4047 will do everything I need, no problem. But, I really like the self-leveling bucket, larger fuel tank, of the 5030. The...

    45-55HP choices

I think I'm in the market for a basic 4WD tractor with loader in the 45-55HP range. Use will be mostly bush-hogging and logging/firewood woods work. It seems if I go to any of the brand specific forums with comments, I'll just get answers from satisfied owners, and not much criticisms. That's...

    Mahindra 5010 vs. LS U5030

I looked at a couple of tractors today. One was a Mahindra 5010 (geared) with loader for $24,900 (cash or financing). This one had a Tier 3 motor, which I think is a good thing? I liked the tractor a lot. When I get closer to a decision, I'll go back and drive it around (it was in the...

    K5055

I was toying with the idea of a NH Workmaster 55 and then heard that LS K5055 is pretty darn close to being the same for a little less money. My questions: 1. Is the LS transmission a shuttle shift like the NH? 2. Any idea the price the bare-bones tractor plus FEL is going for these days...

    3 Point Log Skidder

    Using Tractors for Cutting/Handling Firewood

I made a rig for the back of my tractor. Add some tongs and couple of grab hooks and you can skid out just about anything. Before I made this, I borrowed a neighbors yellow boom-type deal and bent it. Too much length out there. This year, I found an old Fransgard winch locally for cheap...

    Long 460 DT

My clutch pedal flops around some so I ordered a new clutch pedal bushing. Now how in **** do I remove that shaft that holds both the clutch and brake pedals? One end or the other must come off somehow and then slide it out. I can't figure it. Thanks.

Convert 2 lever FEL to 1?

I've got a Long 460 with a Long FEL. It's got two levers for operation, which works, but it's a pain compared to my neighbor's JD that has just one lever. I'd like to convert mine to be like his, if it's feasible money-wise. What and where should I be looking for? My two-lever control has 6...

    Long 460DT

Hello, new here. Been asking Long questions on other forums with no luck. Was referred here. Here goes: I want an OWNERS manual for my Long 460 DT. I can't find one for it, but I can find one for the 360, 510, and 560. Which one of those would be closest (in owners manual content) to my 460? I'd...
