Loader I Buggered Up My Loader

Problem found. I may have to fire the guy that installed this. As I suspected, that square section yellow synthetic ring must have been twisted and probably started to roll out of the groove between the two green split rings as I was installing the piston onto the rod. It then got caught up in...

Loader I Buggered Up My Loader

I don't think so, but that's where I'm looking next (I have been wrong before!). The piston seals have to seal in both directions...the external seal against the barrel is two pieces, an inner square section rubber ring and a synthetic square section ring on top of it. That synthetic seal is a...

Loader I Buggered Up My Loader

Thanks, guys. Makes sense so I went out and double checked lines and disconnects. They are all good, they're colour coded so easy to trace. I think I'll sleep on it and maybe take apart the rebuilt boom cylinder to see if I messed up inside that.

Loader  I Buggered Up My Loader

KubotaB7800, LA402 loader, 830 hours. Fluid was seeping around the rod on both bucket cylinders and one boom cylinder, and the loader leaked down slowly. So I rebuilt those three cylinders using genuine Kubota rebuild kits, reassembled everything and topped up the hydraulic fluid. I have cycled...

    Eaton Fuller 7 speed transmission

Well, I had the pain of driving a few. When I drove ready mix, some of our older trucks had this box. They are heavy duty and I'm not aware of any durability problems with them. I was used to Eaton Fuller 13 and 15 speed RoadRangers and my ready mix assignments were usually 8LL's. The 7-speed...

    Impeller Removal

When I narrowed my snowblower several years ago I ran across this same washer welded to the impeller. (The whole sad story is here.... https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/i-shrunk-my-snowblower.350327/ When I put it all back together I did not weld the washer to the fan and soon...

Snowblower Lucknow SnowBlower with Comer Gearbox Type T27D

So the fan is turning and the auger stops in heavy going? I would check the two flanges that the auger shear bolt connects. I rebuilt my 72" Lucknow clone several years ago and found those two flanges rusted securely together. If the shear bolt is cut, the flanges might stick together under...

Clamp on hitch receiver, whatam I missing?

I welded a ball mount receiver on the reinforced top of the bucket and then made a special ball mount to handle a trailer with the bucket tipped forward. I also welded a grab hook to a 2x2 tube to fit the same receiver. Most of the time the hook lives in the receiver, but I can swap in the ball...

I second the cloves treatment, I've had good luck with it over the years. Peppermint oil seems to work too, but I find the whole cloves cheaper and easier to come by.

B7500 coolant gushing out of oil pan?

Was it exposed to extended freezing temperatures? Did it have a good anti-freeze mix? Hate to say it, but sounds to me like a cracked block, especially since the frost plug had popped out. Been there, it's not pleasant. Sorry.

    Snowblower  I Shrunk my Snowblower

I narrowed my rear mount snowblower from 74 in. to 62 in. wide. Why would a sane person do that? My blower is a no-name (that bears an uncanny resemblance to a Lucknow) that I purchased new from a short line dealer almost 25 years ago. It was originally mounted on a larger gear drive tractor...

    minor issue

Some sort of light box should work. When I built my cab I moved the signal lights from the ROPS to the fromt of the cab. I also installed a mirror on the left side that sort of shielded the turn signal. Over the next few years I lost 3 lenses from the right side, but none from the left side...

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

I live in town and my woodlot is 50 miles away. I cut and process about 7 to 8 full cords of firewood each year to heat my son's house and my house. My Case 450 crawler tractor lives at the woodlot, the B7800 plows snow in town in the winter and goes to the country in the summer to mow and do...

    Ballast Photos

Steve, I like that you can do a quick drop. Here's mine - it's about 500 lbs. The 2 holes are for standing a shovel or rake in. I don't use it a lot because I usually have the snowblower attached all winter and the bush cutter on for most of the summer.

Bro-Tek Wheel Spacers - Outstanding Service

My B7800 came with a narrow track setup on the rear wheels and I've been wanting to widen it for stability. The 24" wheels are dished around the axle flange so that Bro-Tek's standard spacers will not fit due to their diameter. I contacted Richard at Bro-Tek and he replied that the spacers could...

    Improvements to 3 Point Hitch

Here are three simple (and cheap) improvements I have made to the 3 point hitch on my Kubota B7800. I built all of these from material I had laying around. (Never throw anything out!) I got all of the ideas from fellow TBN'ers. 1. Poor Man's Position Control Since I don't have position control...

    Rain-X - Am I Cursed for Life?

..or at least until I get a new windshield? Applied it twice now and it works great in heavy rain - don't need wipers then - but in light rain or mist I have to use the wipers and it leaves a scum on the windshield that is hard to see through, especially at night. Anybody know of an antidote?

    Keeping a battery charged

My Case 450 crawler often sits for 3 to 4 months at a time at my woodlot. It's an old tractor and has no modern parasitic drains (as long as I remember to turn the switch off ). I used to have a terrible time with the battery; it would last 2 or 3 years. It's a big one and it's not cheap. On May...

    A Different Firewood Processor

Here is a modern (1890's) woodcutter located at King's Landing Historical Settlement, NB, Canada. The log sets on a carriage that is advanced by a ratchet mechanism on the spiked drum. The pulley ratio from the horse power to the saw crank is about 4:1, so the saw can move quite fast. However...

How do you put ballast in your tires?

I always hate to have to do this because it means I've had a flat tire. It happened again today, so I dug out my little setup I've used before. It's cheap and it works like a charm. It consists of a bucket, a drill pump and drill, 2 pieces of garden hose and a small hose clamp. I start with the...
